Blogs Don’t Make Money – Making Money Online

Posted on by Donald in Internet Marketing, Making Money 3 Comments

Sadly I’ve just come to realize that making money online doesn’t include blogging. Sure you can eventually make money blogging, but only if you’re good at it and keep it going day after day. If you want your blog to be successful write something new everyday. I could care less about aspkin.com (Lol), I’m just writing as a hobby, but from my experience blogging needs to be an every day thing. Every other day will be okay as well. And your content needs to give some sort of value to the reader, or else why are they reading?

Anyways, that’s not why I’m writing this post. I’m writing to say if you want to make money online, stay away from blogging. Start a business online that will at least pay you at the minimum success instead of getting nothing from blogging. Having a blog is fun, and a great networking tool, but if you’re doing it to try to make money, you’ll have lots of hard work ahead of you, and at least 6 months to a year before you see any results.

moneyThe best ways to make money online is to sale something of value. It can be anything. If you have information on a subject, write an eBook and gift wrap that baby to sale. If you find suppliers and are able to sale you something cheaper then a competitor, get you ass on eBay, Craigslist, Amazon or even create your own website and out sale the competition. Money makes the world go round, competition keeps everyone honest. If you don’t have your own product, that’s no excuses, become an affiliate and sale someone else’s product. Join Clickbank and start promoting e-Books. Join CJ, Azoogleads, and Neverblueads. There are thousands of products out there that are waiting for new affiliates to promote them. I make thousands off Clickbank every month. I promote e-Books from sites of mine and they sale. If I can do it, so can you.

If you’re blogging already, sign up for affiliate programs and start writing reviews on products you’re interested in. Add your affiliate links in your reviews and you’ve just created passive income for your self. Do this enough times, and you’ll have a website with tons of traffic, making you money on auto pilot. Many people create squeeze pages in this way, and send traffic to these sites through adwords.

bumI’m just saying, there are better ways to make money online then blogging. If you’re blogging to make money online you’re going to fail. I’ve seen it time and time again. Blog to have fun, and network with friends and family members, but don’t expect much return other then that. The real money comes from selling something of value. Try this the next time you have an idea for making money online and you just might Make Money Online.

Star Wars Meets Pulp Fiction – YouTube Video

Posted on by Donald in Uncategorized Leave a comment

Late night post before I head out. Have you ever thought, ‘damn I love Star Wars, and I love Pulp Fiction, I wish they made a short movie which combined the two’? Well I haven’t, but that’s what you get with Star Wars: The Unknown Discovery. A short clip (13:41) about two Starship Troopers sent on a mission to find the coordinates of the rebel base, Pulp Fiction Style! The acting was pretty good, and it was pretty much Pulp Fiction line by line, I liked it.

And if you want to relive the original Pulp Fiction experience:

Face Book Ads Work!

Posted on by Donald in Internet Marketing, Making Money Leave a comment

So I started experimenting with Facebook ads a couple days ago, and I’m happy to say I’m having great results! I started with a simple CPC ad campaign targeting one keyword at 18 cents per click. My daily balance is $50, but it never seems to give me more traffic then a dozen or so clicks a day. But I’m making sales on those clicks! It could be the way the ad is given tons of space to explain it self or that I’m targeting the right audience, but those few clicks have already giving me a 700% return! Now all I have to do is expand what’s working and I should see even better results! I don’t want to give my self a bunch of competition, but if you’re promoting something, give Facebook ads a chance.

Google Doesn’t Like Scraped Content – Who Knew? :)

Posted on by Donald in Google, How-To, Internet Marketing, Intresting Stuff, Making Money Leave a comment

I just finished doing my bi-monthly daily traffic report for all my sites. Aspkin.com is doing okay with about 736 visitors a day starting this month. I found that making the eBay forums private really slowed things down, all the way to around 500 visitors a day. So a few days ago I made the forums public again, and the numbers of visitors are starting to increase. Before the forums went public I was receiving around 1200 visitors a day to my blog and forum. Not so bad.

statsI also found that Google really doesn’t like scraped content. I’m not a big fan of it either but since I can’t possibly write all my own content, I have to find methods to feed my sites fresh content. Most of my sites have unique content, but there are a few I’ve been testing with different kinds of scraped content. My best sites, averaging 2-3 thousand visitors a day are custom made websites with 100% unique solid content. My worst sites have barley 10 visitors a day with 100% scrapped content using wordpress themes.

Google doesn’t necessarily care if you use the same platforms as others use (wordpress), but they seem to give you some sort of bonus if you use some unique scripts to handle your content. And also they don’t care much for scraped content; which I pretty much knew already, but had to test it out for my self.

blackhatI’m experimenting with RSS content with some sites, and I’m having good results. Some sites are staying the same traffic wise and others are increasing slightly; which is a good step away from ugly scraped content.

I also found that if you domain names have highly sought keywords in them, Google will look at these sites more often for spam, and if you’re using scraped content with these sites, Google won’t hesitate to ban you domain. I’ve had two AWESOME domain names banned for scraped content. I’m trying to get them back by using good content and high ranking inbound links, but time will tell. I was able to get one site back about 6 months ago, and now that site gives me around 400 unique visitors a day. Nice!

654I’ve found that mixing up your content with some unique and scraped content works well. Especially if your scraped content is targeted to keywords you’re looking for. But scraped content websites all by it’s self doesn’t work.

One last thing… using the same exact content in multiple sites doesn’t work either. I have 6 sites based on the same topic and using the same content. But only 2 or 3 of those sites get decent traffic. The other 3 gets crap for traffic! Just a heads up.

Following the Rich Vs. Catering to Them

Posted on by Donald in Rant Leave a comment

Everyone wants more, no matter how much they have. The richest people in the world only want to be richer. Even though most people I know have more material possessions then 99% of the human race, there is a drive to always want more. And I’m not just talking about the American dream of owning a home with two cars. I’m talking of becoming a millionaire. More and more people feel one day they’ll be millionaires. Whether from becoming the next American Idol, Oprah’s personal assistant, making it big on Wall Street, or creating the next YouTube!

The reason most people fail is because they try to follow the money. Who’s making money these days? They have a good platform, let’s copy it! It’s like a group of people in the middle of a lighting storm. Everyone goes to where lighting last hit hoping to strike it rich! And no one does their own thing.

I for one would rather sale those people lighting rods. But that’s just me…

Matt Cutts Does it Again – Halloween 2007!!

Posted on by Donald in Intresting Stuff, Other Leave a comment

Matt Cutts is an interesting guy. He’s a Google software engineer and currently heads their Webspam team. His blog Matt Cutts is quite popular because of his insights into how Google ranking works.

I’ve been following his site for about a year now, and there are a couple things I really like about his blog. For one, he’s been known to give helpful advice about Google. Just recently with Google’s latest Page Rank update, he gave insight into Text Link penalties. Basically if you sell text links ads to manipulate Page Rank, Google’s going to slap your site in rankings. I also like his random quirky post. Just recently he updated his current Halloween situation.

Here’s his 2007 Halloween custom: The T-shirt is hand-made with an iron-on. The only thing you’re not seeing is his tail in the back, and the back of the shirt says “K THX BYE.” He’s a freaking cat!

In 2006 he decided he wanted to go as a search engine. What’s better to be then Zombie Jeeves:

jev1jev2

He wanted to be Silent Bob… but decided against it. Personally I liked Silient Bob better:

In 2005 he picked up the blade of the six-fingered man to become Inigo Montoya:

Then in 2003, he colored his hair and went as punk rock Matt:

Sometime in 2000 or 2001, he went as Google’s chef Charlie (the one who once cooked for the Grateful Dead):

It’s been interesting following Matt Cutts Halloween post. I can’t wait to see what he’s going to do next year!

EBay Suspensions Invalid Phone Number Q&A

Posted on by Donald in eBay, How-To, Intresting Stuff 1 Comment

Another FAQ for the eBay Suspension Forums.

EBay Suspensions Invalid Phone Number Q&A
Lift your limited eBay account after invalid phone suspension.

Does eBay care if your phone is invalid or not?
Yes, they are limiting and even suspending accounts for not having a valid phone number. What usually happens is once eBay detects your phone number is invalid; they will immediately stop your current auctions and limit your account until they can verify your number. It’s an easy fix.

Why eBay limits your account for verification:

  • If you change certain account information like your password, eBay will sometimes limit your account for phone verification. If you do this with a new IP, you can almost always expect eBay limiting your account for verification.
  • Customers can complain that your contact information is invalid, and eBay will limit your account.
  • It’s also been mentioned using (AOL) proxies will sometimes limit your account for more information.

phoneHow to lift suspension and get a new phone number: All you do in that case is update with a Privatephone or Aim Phoneline number or any number that actually works and eBay will call it and leave a pin on the voice mail. Then you go back to eBay, enter the pin to prove your number works and you get right back on.

Here are a few options for a temporary for number.

  • Aim Phoneline (free incoming calls, works, To listen to your voicemail you need an AOL or AIM e-mail address, a computer with an internet connection, a web browser, and speakers. To answer calls, you also need AOL 9.0 or the latest version of AIM, and have a microphone or PC headset.)
  • Privatephone (It’s free and you can set up a voicemail so that when eBay sends the PIN number for to verify, it will record it for you. You can then access it by checking your voicemail by phone or just logging in and playing it thru your PC.)
  • GrandCentral (works, may have limited numbers)
  • Skype (not a good idea to use this as its part of eBay, Works right now… but for how long? It’s only time before Skype shares information with eBay and Paypal.)

Other options: Arrange to use a friend’s non-landline phone number for verification.

How to Prevent Future Suspension: Try to stay in contact with your customers so they won’t have to ask eBay for your contact information. Use Privatephone or AIM Phoneline when you are limited.

It’s best not to wait until you’re limited to change your phone number to a real one. When eBay finds you’re using a fake number they will remove your current auctions until you can verify your account.

Important!! Remember when listing your phone number; make sure not to use a phone number you’ve used before with a suspended account. This will cause your accounts to link and be suspended.

New Information about phone verification: Verify your identity by phone – This option allows you to sell immediately on eBay. Enter your telephone number as indicated (land lines only) and select whether you want to receive the call now (you’ll receive the call within 20 seconds) or in 2 minutes. You will get an automated call with a 4-digit verification number at the telephone number you specified. Enter the 4-digit verification number on eBay and continue your registration.

Pros and Cons of Becoming a eBay Powerseller after Suspension

Posted on by Donald in eBay Leave a comment

This question has been asked a few times in the eBay Suspension Forums. I created my new account, I haven’t been suspended yet, and now I have high enough feed back that eBay is offering me Powerseller status. Is it worth it?

Pros and Cons of Becoming a Powerseller
Should you become a Powerseller?

Pros:

  • Slightly more communication opportunities with eBay.
  • Having Powerseller Logo gives you more trust to buyers. This could mean more sales.
  • Depending on your Powerseller level it takes more to suspend you. You’re giving SLIGHTLY more trust by T&S.

Cons:

  • EBay will suspend and limit a Powerseller account just the same as a Non-Powerseller.
  • Using a fake address could hurt you when eBay tries to send you information about your Powerseller status.
  • There is risk of suspension but it is slight.
  • No protection from T&S.
  • Nothing really changes.

Final Answer:
powerseller2There is absolutely no advantage to Powerseller status. It may increase sales slightly, but is it worth it? The only thing that matters is having the right products at the right price. Plus you will be held to higher standards than most. Really – YOU DONT NEED IT.

Overall feel from other members:
Not worth it.

Working Hard – My Post Break Video – Warcraft Tips

Posted on by Donald in Uncategorized Leave a comment

Well, I’m in the middle of my break from working on the eBay forums. I’m just about done going through the Suspension Forums and I’m going to soon post what I’ve collected. But before I do I just wanted to share a pretty funny video I found on YouTube. It’s about the game World of Warcraft and this crazy game addict pwning experience. It’s pretty funny, I think the guy is French or something. He’s very graphic and offensive but it’s still funny. Watch the whole thing.

Great site, tons of valuable information here. – avarshavSuperb forum, it really does help. – rifraf

Let me just start off by saying how awesome this site is!! Everyone was so helpful. My husband and I each got suspended for Shill bidding. Our accounts were linked apparently by our address and things. Long story on that one. We were not in the wrong. It has been a long couple of weeks but today we got word that both our accounts are now reinstated. I am not using my account at all any more. We will leave that one alone. I have changed our IP address and we hope to be okay now. This site was full of info and well worth looking at. I could not believe how many people get suspended for such dumb reasons. It’s a shame EBay does not have competition. It would be nice to see them go down just as fast as they are putting us down. Thanks again. – hopelessinpa

Aspkins site is the best resource for getting back on eBay. Believe me. – mozilla757

I’m currently back on with aspkins help from reading it. At first after my first suspension I didn’t know anything and got banned within 7 days I tried to sell some items it didn’t work. then I got mad at eBay for doing it to me then from reading his threads its not my fault for getting banned its eBay’s fault I should have not guilt ……blah…blah my bad for going off anyways I’m still on for the past 2 months now buying items that’s about it. – rapunzel_01

Aspkins advice helped me a lot. I mixed his things with other ideas of mine. Were crazy idea’s I did. But it all worked together in a blend! Now I can’t get banned off of eBay again! – x2ruff4u

All good and selling strong this end for a few months. If I had known about the IP address thing I would probably have succeeded with my 2nd account, instead of 4th. – Modee

The suspension guide is the best thing that has ever happened to me All the frustration I accumulated during this “trial” with eBay is almost gone. I am glad to see there is someone how cares and can help eBay users. Now I know I was not crazy or alone on this situation. – Dia

After numerous attempts, I have followed Aspkin’s guide to a T and am well into the 2 month mark. Farthest I’ve made it so far. Hopefully this sticks for a while. (Fingers crossed) THANKS ASPKIN! I think the key is to check, recheck, triple check and then check again to make sure you don’t slip up and get caught! And if you just do what it says specifically, don’t worry about anything else. Just focus on those things. It seems nothing else matters…

Aspkin, thanks for your information. – BackToEbay

Aspkin, I have to say you are the best… – tyandlayne

Hey guys, first post.
First Freebay Balling, Aspkin, Modee, Chris Hanson, quickie, leonid5000, and many others… the time that you have taken to teach myself and everyone else has saved us MONTHS of trial and error with this thing we called eBay. I myself have been following EVERYTHING that the main contributors have laid out. I have 3 accounts opened in the last week, all with different names, accounts, address, PO boxes, blah blah… Going with this thread, I rec’d a call today from eBay on the oldest account I listed my first listing with $.99 starting. I had been on eBay for almost 5 years before and had the call once in 5 years, but after at least 2-3 years.
Everyone take your time and do what the GOD LIKE mentors have taken time already trying themselves, or it will take you longer in the end.
Again, thanks for all that you do guys! – ex-eBay learner

Hi everyone! I just want to start out by saying that this forum has got to be one of the best out there! – mimi178

First I want to say thanks for Aspkin and all the contributors to have this awesome forum to helping us out on being wrongfully suspended by eBay. All the tips and advices are great! Thanks guys! – altu
