Are you thinking about starting an online business? You want to get away from the online marketplaces and start focusing on your own website?
Well you’re in luck! Starting a website and building it is easier then you think. First things first you need is a domain name!
Here are Five Tips on selecting a successful domain name:
1. Brainstorm Five Keywords
When you first begin your domain name search, it helps to have 5 terms or phrases in mind that best describe the domain you’re seeking. Once you have this list, you can start to pair them or add prefixes & suffixes to create good domain ideas. For example, if you’re launching a Bean Bag related domain, you might start with words like, “bean bag, chair, sac, rocker, lounger” then play around until you can find a good match.
2. Select a Dot Com (.com) Domain Name
If a person is surfing around looking for a website, and they know its name, most people will try widget.com, before widget.net or .org, etc. So for the website owner who wants their site to be found, the rule is: if at all possible, get a .com domain name. Trust me on this; it’s a must if you want a long term successful business.
3. Make Your Domain Name Easy to Type
If a domain name requires considerable attention to type correctly, due to spelling, length or the use of un-memorable words or sounds, you’ve lost a good portion of your branding and marketing value. I’ve even heard usability folks tout the value of having the letters include easy-to-type letters (which I interpret as avoiding “q,” “z,” “x,” “c,” and “p”).
4. Make it Short
Should you choose a short or long domain name? Most people may argue that a short domain name is better than a long domain name. Well, I agree. A shorter domain name is usually easier to remember. Of course, it depends on the situation. For example, “IAmADatingCoach.com” is a better choice compared to “IAADC.com” since the former is easier to remember. Yet, you won’t want to choose “IAmADatingCoachWhoHasTaughtThousandsOfStudentsSuccessfully.com”. People won’t remember such a long domain name and even if they do, it would be a chore to type. Short names are easy to type and easy to remember. They also allow for more characters in the URL in the SERPs (Search Engine Results Page) and a better fit on business cards and other offline media. Short is good. 
5. Make it Easy to Spell
Make sure it passes the phone test, if you were to say the domain name of your website to a friend over the phone, would your friend be able to spell it correctly the first time without your having to spell it for them? If not, you’ve failed the phone test and should likely try a different domain name. Also, be careful about double letters. Take CyberRodeo, for example. Their domain uses a double R, as you might expect, but there is an uncertainty there. The two R’s together look a bit strange if written without capitalization, and a good name will not force the user to assume anything about the name. If you must have a double letter, the best solution is to buy both versions of the domain.
Once you select a domain you want to use, go to NameCheap and register your name ASAP! NameCheap is a well established trusted domain register and web host. I use them for a lot of my domains.

Using Your Email List to the Fullest
The first thing you should do when working online, selling or promoting products is to start an email list. With an email list you’re able to promote your product and others over and over again, instead of just once on your website or through other mediums.
Think about this. Whenever a visitor finds your website, they read the information they came for and if you’re lucky they’ll click on your adsense or buy something from you. What if they don’t do either? Most people visiting your website will come and go without making you money. What you need to do is capture as many of these prospects in an auto responder such as GetResponse and promote for the long run.
The best way to capture a visitor’s email is to offer them something for free! It can be anything! But remember this, if you simply ask for visitor to signup for blog updates or news updates, you won’t have as much luck as giving something away for free.
The best things I’ve seen people give away are 7-week courses on a specific subject. At the end of that course you have built up enough trust with the prospect to promote a product you believe in. People make tons of money online doing this. An example is giving away a 7-week course on eBay suspensions. After the seven weeks are up, offer them a product that’ll make you money. This can be your own product or someone else’s.
The good thing about having an email list is whenever there is another great product related to your 7-week course or product; you can promote this and make even more money. You don’t want to promote just any old product though, if a prospect feels you’re just using them to make money online, you’ll lose their trust and they’ll filter you out.
The best thing about this is the more people you have in your email list, the more money you’ll make in the long run.

Working for your self or working for someone else.
I don’t understand how people like working for someone else and never trying to better their self. Most people I know are either not doing anything at all, or just working for someone else going no where. I’ve tried to motivate friends and family members on the fine points of making money online, but for the most part it’s too much for them. The simplest of things like using an FTP program, buying a domain name or even understanding what I’ve just wrote is beyond them.
In a place where instead of making 2k a month working 40+ hours a week, a person can literally make as much money as they want working from the comfort of their own home and even make money while they sleep! I try to tell people they can do so much better working for their self, but it seems everyone I talk to is either afraid of taking a risk or too lazy to do anything at all. Even the smart people I know, who I give step by step advice for making money online never goes through with it. (not you david)
I’m just tired of defending the worker bee!
I’ll help a person out to the point where I’ve done 90% of the work, but if they can’t do that last 10% then I’m sorry, it was never meant to be. If you’ve ever wanted to succeed with something, you have to take a risk and follow through! If you can’t follow through, you’ll never have anything in life.
If you’re having trouble getting your goals completed, the best advice I can give is to create a to-do list. Write down what your goals are, and what you need to do to reach them. Then take the time and work to reach your goals! Instead of watching TV all day, reading blog post like this or forums, take the time to get something done!

Clickbank Update! Broke $100 today! Almost!
Quick update for you on Clickbank! Since I posted my Clickbank stats a couple days ago, the last couple days my stats have increased by almost 3X as much! I’m doing a little email marketing and tweaking and adding more ads to my websites, and it seems to be working. Out of 50+ websites I have access to; I’ve only monetized 3 with Clickbank ads! What if I do them all? I’m excited!
What steps will I take now?
- I want to monetize the remaining sites of mine. Using banners, and simple links as advertisements.
- I’ll continue working on a new auto responder I setup for affiliate commissions. So Far I’ve created 4 weekly emails with basic reviews and discounts on products. I’ll add this email sign up to all sites. So far I had 68 new signups today! Yay!
- I’ll create new content for more advertisement in the future. Niche content to products I’m promoting. I created a new forum today!
- I’ll start creating a review products page with competing products and advertise with adsense. I think this will make the big bucks.
That’s it for the next couple days. Once I get this done, I’ll let you know how Clickbank is doing again. I must say, I love Clickbank! This is the only affiliate network I’ve tried, it won’t be the last, and if it’s a taste of what’s to come, I’m game! I can’t wait to try other networks! Why break you back with eBay, your own store, or even creating your own products when you can sell someone else’s products and get half the profit? They do all the work, and you get paid? What’s not to love about that?
