Well I use VPN, and Highspeed, basically the same as you with a Vista operating system.
What I do is simply switch back and forth between connections, I even use my iphone connection at times and tether in.
You can easily switch back and forth as I'm doing as my connections are always on.
This is with a vista operating system, I know XP is different.
