Default Didn't know eBay had a seller limit

So here it goes, I sell cell phones and I sold alot of them original no copies, the account I have is 3 years old and 1 day ebay writes me this

Dear XXXXX XXXXXX
Your listing(s):

have been ended early and all fees credited to your account. Additionally, we have restricted your listing activity due to concerns we have for the safety and integrity of the eBay community. Please understand that this measure is precautionary and if you wish to have your limit increased, please provide the following information:

- A legible copy of the front and back of your driver's license or other government issued ID.
- A copy of a recent credit card statement or utility bill clearly showing your billing address as proof of your registration information. Please remove any account numbers before sending.
- Copies of manufacturer invoices or any other documentation showing purchase or possession of the items recently listed for sale on eBay. This includes purchase records and related documentation from suppliers and/or other third parties.
- A signed statement acknowledging that you have read and that you understand the eBay User Agreement. A link to the User Agreement can be found at the bottom of most eBay pages.

Please be sure to include the User ID and email address of this eBay account. If your fax does not contain this information, it will not be processed.

Once you have submitted your appeal, please reply to this email with a brief message stating that the information has been sent to eBay.

Please fax the information requested above to:

eBay, Attention: B001 Appeals
Fax number: (801) 880-7018

For your security, any documents submitted will be destroyed after your appeal has been reviewed.

We thank you for your cooperation.

Respectfully,
Customer Support (Trust and Safety Department)

BUTTTT !!! MY ACCOUNT WASN'T SUSPENDED

So I write them and ask them why was my account limited heres what they say.

Dear XXXX

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to your eBay account.

Your limits were adjusted to allow for a limited amount of sales. If
you'd like to apply for an increase in your selling limits, you'll need

to show a good record of keeping your buyers happy. Feel free to write
back in a month or so. Also please note, at this time, you are not
permitted to open new eBay accounts, any violation will result in an
indefinite suspension from the site.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Philip Saunders

"Then they turn around and write me back a few days later"

Dear XXXXX,

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to your account limits.

I'm pleased to let you know that after reviewing your account, we
adjusted your selling limits. All accounts that sell on the site have
limits placed on their account. These limits automatically adjust
according to your selling history. Depending on the type of merchandise

being sold, members may or may not reach the limits placed on their
account.

As limits are always present and will affect your account only when it
exceeds a certain threshold of selling activity, it's possible you may
reach them again in the future. The best way to qualify for future
increases is to continue building a solid selling history.

If you hit these limits, please remember that it may take our system
some time to catch up with your ended auctions/feedback left/etc, and
you may need to wait a few days before listing new merchandise or
revising your items. This process can sometimes take up to 7 days to
complete.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Sophia K.

Thumbs down

Ebay gets weirder and weirder by the hours.

Their software is So overwritten with So many checks and balances, a sign that times have really changed on eBay for the worse.

They must have a staff shortage there because seems like everything is automated and ambiguous.

Today I had an account "suspended" and that feedback I left for others would be removed. Funny thing is,

the account had never been used for buying or selling, and had (0) feedback.

So I reply to ask what this new farce was all about to support@ebay.scam and got a return email that the address did not exist anymore.

Thinking it was some type of spoof, I log onto the "suspended" account and low down and behold it was suspended with the same email explanation AND NO REPLY BUTTON!

I"M GLAD i'm jaded by eBay. I don't miss selling on there anymore. It sucks even when it's good. It's impossible to relax and just sell without constant threat of expulsion.

It's akin to someone who gets arrested by the police and then overtime finds himself being rearrested over and over again. A snow ball effect.

With the growing trend of the still unproven and speculative "global warming" legislature, there are now laws being drafted, that might pass that prohibit Americans from smoking in their own homes.

And get this: a law was passed in Colorado that will criminalize and prosecute anyone American in their home/ apt from turning up their air conditioners beyond a certain temperature, and or opening your window while the air conditioner is on will get you arrested.

Smoking Is Healthier Than Fascism

HI- these limits started last year around October/NOv.
They were set into place all of the sudden with no notice.
I was given a 75% limit.
I had `100% fb, and -0- negs, long time acct, so I guess everyone go it..
I wrote several times, as I had everything set up on automatic relist, in my store.
SO- if the auto relist- relisted 24 montblanc refills, that used up my "vero/ Name" relists for the 7 days.
SO, now I get a message of failure to relist on the Cartier ink cartridge or something else relly not threatening, response form ebay was basically tough..
-- This ALL STARTED after the TIFFANY LAWSUIT...

If you sell in high volumes and have a lot of inventory. Why not just spread your listings out amongst multiple accounts?

Wow...great information here. I swear I was sooo in the dark before finding this forum. My biggest problem EVER with ebay(well until getting NARUed) was when those ⊗⊗⊗⊗ accounts would bid on my high value items ruining the auctions. Now ebay has done a360 and NO ONE can bid and sell.. I love this post! More information from the gurus!

Yea i got one of these last month one of my accounts. Problem with that one was i was selling way too much. After passing the initial limitation with Paypal they were letting me withdraw any amount so i went a little overboard on listing. I received a selling limit and they told me my transaction percentage surpassed my feedback score. So i had to let that account sit for about a bit and i contacted all the buyers to leave positive feedback, after i increased my feedback score ebay unrestricted the account. So not only do they have selling limits but they also have different ways of executing it.

I find that it is best to have 50 active auctions or less on a new seller account. and less then 100 active auctions on a seller account selling for 30 days. I sell most of my items for an avg of 50 dollars.

Ofcourse the account is 1-3 months old when I start to sell.

They just unrestricted my account...certainly wasn't expecting that one! After "careful review" of my account, of course. I'm half tempted to send them a sarcastic thank you, but that probably wouldn't be wise.
