Default Has there been a great restriction of Media items?

Hello,

I have been selling on my Amazon Stealth account for approximately 4 months so far and sales have been good. I passed the month long watch that Amazon put on my account during the first month and have been keeping under the radar for making ridiculous sales.

However, I am having a problem. I have stayed away from media (dvd/cd) inventory due to the high risk factor as I have only been selling books. However for the holiday season I tried listing dvd's in my inventory and almost every single one of them has displayed that they are restricted on my Amazon account. I did receive the emails that Amazon sent out that stated that they are going to be more strict on their dvd listing from third party sellers, and the fee increases.

So my question is, has Amazon restricted all third party sellers from selling Dvd's here on Amazon? Or has Amazon restricted my account specifically from selling media (dvd) items on Amazon? (This information will be verified if other sellers are able to sell dvd merchandise on Amazon.com) Please let me know. Also, if anyone has any advice as to how I can ask Amazon to be reinstated for selling dvd items on their website that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Yes. You can no longer sell any DVD with an MSRP higher than $25. The MSRP is the LIST PRICE, not the selling price. And it makes no difference what your price is. You can still sell DVD's with an MSRP lower than $25 or Blu-Ray's.

You can also apply for pre-approval to sell DVD's, but few are having very much luck with this. Amazon requires supplier information and the have noted that they WILL call and verify that you purchased enough merchandise to cover your sales.

They did this, because those DVD's represent the bulk of the counterfeits.

Thank you for the information. However, how do you tell the list price compared to the selling price? (sorry if that's a dumb question)I have quite a lot of inventory that consist of DVD's and don't know how to tell the difference considering that this rule is relatively new. Thus if I know how to determine this I can sort through ones that I can list compared to ones I cannot due to this new concept.

In the past on previous accounts it tended not to matter, so I don't know how to find this information. Thank you again for your response.

When you go to list something, it is either listed as the MSRP or the LIST PRICE. Sometimes, but not always, it is in the listing itself. It is the top price, and is usually crossed out with a single line.

Most new releases, nearly all Disney titles and box sets can no longer be sold. That is where the counterfeits were. Cheaper titles can be sold as well as Blu-Ray's since they are rarely counterfeited.

I knew this would happen eventually, because counterfeit sellers were giving Amazon fits. Amazon does not want to be known as counterfeit city.

I have a lot of rare DVD's (Presumably DVD's that are hard to find or they stopped making them in production) and I couldn't list any of those on my account either.

But I guess everything is off limits due to people messing up the system. Thanks again.

I'll just have to use eBay as an alternative to getting rid of that inventory.

In that case, you could try APPLYING for permission to sell, explaining to Amazon what you are selling and pointing out that the titles you carry are not the same ones the counterfeiters are making copies of. I cannot say what their reaction would be, but I should think they would want more sellers like that, because they DO add value to Amazon.

Try listing as used, I know not ideal, but its a solution.

And your own niche site perhaps...along with craigslist, facebook (examples)
