Is TIN Required to Sell AT ALL on Amazon?

I know that a TIN will eventually be required to keep selling on amazon just as is the case with eBay and in reading Amazon Ghost it was mentioned but not as a requirement to open an account and start selling. Has amazon changed the rules to only let you sell once your TIN has been verified or will a random one work temporarily?

ITIN number if for immigrants. If you are not an immigrant or have been granted a SS number, then you can not get an ITIN number.

I am asking about TIN not ITIN. Just in general can you start selling without giving amazon some type of TIN?
