Arrow >> Ebay--VERIFICATION CALL--to LISt--NO MATTER HOW OLD ACCT IS....

Folks:
NO MATTER how old/young your ebay acct is--they have made it mandatory--if the acct has never sold before to be verified, 2 ways...(BOTH ARE PAINLESS)..

1.) Enter credit card info---use a Simon/allaccess etc.
2.) Verify the phone on file--this was alittle tricky--let me explain...

a.) oF COURSE--the phone number MUSt be a legit number--no more "Virtual" numbers..
SO--if your acct is in Hawaii--and you are in NYC, you must have call forwarding.. --which I do..

So- you try to list via Auctiva-- Auctiva is what alerted me, when I received this message:
We're sorry, but before you list an item you must update your eBay account to a seller's account including a registered credit card. See your eBay account for more information.

OK< So- I go to Ebay--I do the credit card thing-thinking the game is on them,,,BUT WAIT--the TWIST--the Phone Call!

So- I do the call fwd-test it--it works! Ok, so now I restore the minimized Ebay screen, and continue..

>> Ebay now not only asks to press "a" button,, but the recording says first--will you accept this call? If yes, press 1, if no-forward to voice mail, press2, or press 3, to listen in on voice mail..I pressed 1.

>.NOw, the recording says--if you are accepting this call, press 6..(so thats twice..they want it verified, diff numbers pressed)--which is actually harder than the paypal call.. I am using a usb device through my pc..

_-The Phone Number calling was BOTH times, (I did two diff accts while I was impositioned)-- Both from : 847-709-0211....

So-thats it! So you MUST have a good number, it must be able to call forward, and be careful to listen to the voice, as it most likely changes...
Good Luck !

HI: Its a USb Phone... a pushbutton phone that plugs into the usb jack,, Prev,--I used a usb headset with a dial pad attached.. I got the usb phone to work with my AIM phone numbers,, (Aim uses a dashboard--you need to be able to pick up the phone while it rings)..
>> So, for example-- when my HAWAII phone line is transferred to my New York City AIm line, the Aim line will ring--but it rings in Cyberspace...so I need the USB to be able to punch the numbers in, that ebay asks for..the 1, the 6,etc,,

Thanks, but I'm a bit confused. Is the usb phone like the magicjack or something different?
Is the magicjack --- the same kind of idea?

OK...just searched google. The phone you use looks just like a real landline phone but with a USB connection...yes?

This seems to be US/UK only. Never asked me for a number in Japan.

I jumped through the eBay hoops and entered a credit card and verified the phone number on several new accounts. I keep email address for the eBay account on the paypal line. It lets me list 5-10 items. Then stops me from listing and asked me to add a verified paypal account.

If I add a verified paypal account, can I remove it after a day or two? I do not want to accept paypal.

Paypal is still holding some money I earned from Christmas after I wasn't allowed to use my merchant account.

Visit 847-709-0211 - Google Search

Seriously funny from May 2008 people don't know who this is
http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-847-709-0211

Here is something from it being used in 2005 for PayPal of someone who didn't have PayPal and thought it was a scam
http://www.bigbigforums.com/news-inf...l-warning.html

I think the number 847-709-0211 is from Authenticy Inc. whoever that is.

Hmmm...

I also verified a few accounts from that same # and also another one from

847-750-2415

this only using ebay only. Got the Magic Jack a a few weeks ago and it works like a charm. Haven't tried with paypal though.

Well I have sold on an account from 1998. Never paid the $11 owed on it and no cc on file. I wonder if I go back to using this account if they'll call me to verify. I have to assume putting a cc on file will activate the account again. But who knows.

Hopefully this is one thing on ebay that doesn't run into a glitch. I had a friend sign up for a free hosting deal awhile back and the company did that verification. Well, their system didn't recognize his phone or something and it called every 15 minutes for 24 hours. A local city set up an automated calling system in case of a big emergency and some bug caused it to dial around 30k households within a few minutes by mistake- at something like 3am.

anon, can you explain that better?

the phone verifier called just him every 15 minutes? Or it called every number in his city constantly? Or what?
