Hi Guys,
Does anyone know of ways of getting sensitive items past customs. I know customs have recently but blocks on some items coming into the country. |

Coughs quietly Give us a hint of what sort? ROFLOL.
![]() No,no need to tell me. For these importations I use a customs agent. Give the likes of Fed Ex or DHL a phone call and discuss your requirements. Quite obviously if it is ultra sensitive and likely to cause you trouble, then forget it.

?EMS through Australia Post? Never used them myself. An import agent will know how to prepare the documents for bringing in the goods. However I can not say using them is a guarantee. It will depend on the items.

In this case the items are most certainly not fakes.

Green Bean is right, use a freight forwarder and customs agent who is dialed into customs. Costs a bit more, but they will get it through. I export some herbal products to Australia and dealing with AQIS was a mild chore. I did it myself, but at the risk of not getting my goods through.
And in the U.S. (assume same in other countries) just because a Customs agent tells you he will allow some goods in, does not mean it will happen. The determination is made at port of entry, at that moment. In the 90s my father had close to a million dollars in goods seized at a southern California port because the customs agents interpreted their category differently from what the one agent who had advised him to "bring 'em in." Over five years later and a third of that value in attorneys' fees he finally got them back, but still had to pay storage. And this was more because the laws had changed than because of customs' backing down. Even a declaration from that one customs agent (who knew which side of the bread was buttered) did not help, at least not right away.

Hi,
Check this list on the Aussie customers web site. customs notices - intellectual property Trade Marks and copyright - Notices of Objection If ur goods are on this list then customs have the right to sieze them. If they are not then they will get through. Hope this helps. |
