Re: Using merchant accounts
OK, so I looked this up for myself and the way Ebay links you is with the API & Transaction key. If youre using Authorize.net, you can generate a new transaction key through the website automatically, but if youre trying to set up for a new Ebay account youre going to need both.
To do that, all you have to do is make a call to Authorize.net through their 877 number during regular business hours. Just tell them that you need a new API because you suspect the old one was compromised, and theyll set you up with it. After that, create the new Transaction Key the same way you did the first time.
Please note that you dont want to be doing this on a regular basis. Maybe once or twice a year tops, otherwise Authorize.net is going to start wondering whats going on with you. But if you get suspended, this is the route to go without having to apply for a brand new Merchant Account.
Remember, Ebay doesnt see who's on the other side of the Merchant account. All they see is the API and Trans Key. As long as these are different from your prior account, you wont get linked. At least not by these.
Hope this helps! |
