Hi guys. How do you change IP address with Telus? Telus provides me with a wireless modem (no router needed of course). I tried to unplug and plug the router a few times. I tried command prompt to release/renew but had no succeed. I even contact telus live chat to see what I can do and they said with telus, you basically can't change your IP and even if you're lucky to change it once, it will eventually change it back to the original IP.
Suggestions?

You may have a sticky IP. If that is the case and you cannot change the MAC code, the only way to change IP is to unplug it for a few hours until the lease you have on that IP expires. It can take upto 24 hours for a lease to expire though, so a dongle is probably your best bet for quickly changing IP's

I checked here....appears yours is a Static IP. ( Means it will (rarely) change).
Best and quicker options will be dongle, tethering and ,that old favourite but slow, dial-up.
Maybe if you let us know your stealth plans we can point you in the better direction.
I keep hearing people are having success with a dongle but I am useing a "Virgin Dongle" .. It literally takes me 20 minutes just to just get to the E-bay log in page. Anybody have any other dongle ideas?
Best to start thread in right section yellowrotorway - this is Canada eb discussions...perhaps other people may not visit this section. Lot of other dongle ideas floating around in other sections
The wireless router you got from Telus is locked and cannot be easily spoofed. Request them to give you a Bridged/Dummy Modem. With a bridged or dummy modem, you can connect your own router to do the routing; that is when you have the power.

I tried this yesterday, we have the same provider TELUS... I was happy that my IP address has changed doing this:
After doing that ipconfig /release (just the "release", not ipconfig /renew)
Shut off your computer and unplug the modem for at least an hour...
when I turn on everything, my IP address is already different after trying for soooo
many times!
