Banking Question - mismatched names

I keep reading questions about mismatched names for banking. In the U.S. why would there ever be a problem. WHAT bank will not let you deposit your paycheck directly to your bank. I went in 6 banks and asked them, all the big names and their answer was all the same, "of course" we accept all direct deposits? So what is the issue.

Well, then, there's no problem is there? Just do it everywhere. No worries for you.

You really spent a whole afternoon driving around going from bank to bank 6 times asking this question? What a waste of time and gas and energy!

Of course, you said 'they all accept direct deposits', which is VERY different from saying they all accept direct deposits with mismatched names.

Or you can use the search function and find out which banks do and don't accept mismatched names.
