My defect rate is 2.5% (2% is above standard rate)

And I'm also below standard in shipping and handling time at 8.7%.. (7%) is above standard

What happens if i leave the account to cool off for a while ?? Will i get above standard without selling anything ??

Your defects will eventually drop off... after a year.

Or you can sell smaller items for feedback and DSR. Quick in and out.

Have you read the eBay Stealth before? It will help you a great deal

You SHOULD get the Stealth Book, but it appears statistically unlikely that you can sell enough to redeem an 8.7% rate, particularly when it seems your on time shipping rate is so abysmally poor.

Seriously, mine is less than 1% everywhere, and I ship 30-50 packages a day.

Hi if you sell 400 or more items per month ebay evaluates your account for pass 90 days if you sell less they look for 12 months back if you are below standard they do give you some time to improve if you dont then you can loose selling privileges if you have any other accounts linked you will lose selling privileges on all of them your defects will drop of after one year is true however you could be restricted before find small cheap items to sell large amounts quickly this should let you earn good dsr so your previous defects drop to les impact

First never select " Out of stock " if you cancelling any of your buyer's purchase . Second if you leave account then it will take huge time to get back on track , better you just sell lower amount items and get some quick Feedbacks , i experienced this horrible journey recently and there automatic calculation system for this defect % is just horrible . If you get below standard this month 21st and somehow got yourself in standard % within next month's 20th day still it will take another 1 month to calculate that and give you status of Above standard . Past 4 months were just horrible for me since i mistakenly selected " OUT OF STOCK " when i was cancelling some buyer's purchases , at that time i didn't know that can impact my Performance standards and i got 5 defect total , after approx 4 months now i am back on track eBay gave me time after time seeing my performance and i have 100% positive and 4.9 DSR now happy to be powerseller . As i told you have to work a bit hard if you want faster progress but seeing your % fall i can say at least 2 months you have to stay on that whatever you do . I was in 4% when i fall in below and now improved myself to 1.4%

With a S&H at 8.7% and falling !!!! selling more is just going to make the problem worse.

There's something systemic wrong with what this seller is doing, and it's not getting better.

There needs to be a serious process change here.

To improve that number he'd not only have to sell huge amounts, but he'd have to have a perfect S&H metric as well.
