How Long Before Selling Limit Is Lifted?

When Ebay sets a selling limit say $500 a month on brand new account, if I do nothing how long will it take before they release the selling limit?

mosguy 12-01-2010 03:10 AM

forever limit

holymoly 12-01-2010 04:08 AM

lol, yep!

pretty much..the selling limits are NOT like the 30 day NOOB period on eBay. If you don't sell, your limits will NEVER be raised.

flipper 12-01-2010 10:38 AM

So if I keep selling how ever much I can, they will eventually raise the limit?

lagoonclub 12-01-2010 10:45 AM

Supposedly the limit gets raised as you get seller feedback, nobody is sure of the exact numbers.

imjustme 12-01-2010 11:47 AM

I read an article somewhere in eBay's FAQ, where it said that selling limits apply in the following cases:

- Less than 3 months since the 1st sale.
- Less than 20 DSR.
- Less than 100 feedback.

So I would guess that if you get 20 DSR, your limit would be listed. Or if at least 3 months have passed since your 1st sale.

What gets me curious is if you would build an account with 100+ feedback only through buying, and then trying to sell, would you still have a selling limit?

I don't think you would. It's probably like the 10 feedback & buy it now listing thing.

Speaking of which, I saw a guy once with over 2800 feedback, 0 from selling.

Crazy!

holymoly 12-01-2010 07:08 PM

Yeah, when you sell Microsoft, you will get some emails from this krakenboy200 SOMETHING and he buys software in BULK, like 24K purchases...no sales. He has multiple accounts and it's run by a bot though.

Anyways, I have pretty much figured out that once you have 20 FEEDBACK FROM SELLING your limits will be raised at the end of the calendar month...sometimes sooner.

alexzin 12-02-2010 12:52 PM

This happened to my friend just by today. But werid is that when he tried to do first listing. The limits warning came out and said that his account has been reached to limits. But actually it was not. What this problem is?

Btw,that account was 1-2 years old.

lagoonclub 12-02-2010 01:53 PM

Not sure how it works. But I have multiple accounts that reached the limit (over $500 sold on each, sold about 6-7 items on each) this week.

I waited a couple of days and tried listing again and I was allowed to list.

This is way before the 30 day mark, I have about 6-7 feedback on each but not all of it is from selling.

Not sure what my limits are now so I just listed two items on each. We'll see.

holymoly 12-02-2010 02:10 PM

Well if you sold 6-7 and can list more...this is not under your 10 item limit. I do not know about the 500 limit; however, just get around 20 feedback from selling and you will be upgraded to the 100 item per month limit.

I sold 6-7 but couldn't list more for a couple of days. I tried to list and actually got a notice on the top of the page that said I reached my selling limit for that month.

I waited a few days and tried again and was allowed to. Both times it was way less than 30 days.

But anyway, I can't wait for the 20 selling feedback mark, 100 items per month per account sounds nice =]

holymoly 12-03-2010 02:01 PM

Yeah it really is...I believe they put a topper on this because it helps people who sell V-ERO. Because most people cannot wait for 20 items of that stuff to be sold for a limit increase and be able to take more than 500 per month.

unfortuantemistake 12-04-2010 03:03 AM

I currently have 38 feedback, my limit was raised from 10 items a month to 50 items or 2K in sales.

So just because you reach 20 DSR from selling does not mean the limit will be lifted.

Also, I have 38 feedback, and for some reason I am still under the 21 day hold, or until an item is delivered/feedback.

It used to be, once you got 20 DSR, they no longer held payments.

They also stated for my limits to be raised again, I would have to email them again after 30 days, and they would review my limits again.

How many days have passed since you sold your first item? Just wondering if the 3 month rule actually removes your limit.

imjustme 12-04-2010 04:54 PM

Nobody knows about the 3 month rule yet, because eBay implemented it in October, so we won't know until January at least.

Started selling in November, account is a little over 30 days old. However, multiple emails and phone calls have yielded the same information.

After 90 days to have your limits evaulated lifted/removed, they state you will have to CALL and have them do it, that it won't manually happen.

But I don't know.

I have just received my 20th selling feedback. I still can't make any new listings. When you say end of the calendar month... does that mean Jan. 1?

imjustme 12-10-2010 04:40 PM

It should be 90 days from your first sale. But then again, nobody knows. You have 20 feedback, but do you have 20 DSR?

shogun1 12-10-2010 05:23 PM

if you have to call in after 90 days then that is going to be a nuclear bomb dropped on stealth accounts

sellers have been avoiding the dreaded call so they can get to the 90 days but if they require u to call in after the 90 days that changes everything

Worrying about this as well.

DSR's are all at 20 except for communication is 19 and it been less than 2 months since the first sale.
