HELP ME!! MC999 Unauthorized use of your account
 

im desperate becuase i got an email right now and it said as the subject "MC999 Unauthorized use of your account userID" and i thought ok i can do this! but when it said for me to change my password! and i tried but it keeps saying " session has ended... or something like that! somebody please help!:eek:

Call them and tell them you got a notice that someone has accessed your account without your permission and you would like them to take care of it :clap:

it also sounds like it would be a scam too. if you put your actual password in there you got nailed with a scam.

if you go directly to the site deos it still work? by typing in ebay.com in the search?

This sounds like a phish if it went to your direct e-mail...

Dont attempt to access your account from the email.

Sign in to ebay seperately and see what if any messages might be there.

Contact ebay regardless to confirm your account's status.

If you get a legit unauthorized account usage email, it will NEVER be MC999

It may be too late but try this. Open the email and look at the link you clicked. With your mouse hover your pointer over it and either look at the bar in the lower left of your screen for an address and look to see if it looks like a real E B or P P address or if it looks fishy (fishy would be a differet address than what you clicked in the email). You can also right click the link and pick 'copy shortcut' and then open up notepad and paste it there to look at it. I've gotten these many times and haven't fallen for them. Depending on the email you use you can forward them to spoof@ <e B or PPud) depending on which one it's affecting. If you can select 'show full headers' before forwarding that may help them. Wait for a reply from spoof and they will have a link to where you should go and what you should do if you clicked on it and gave your password. Do it right away. They should be able to keep your account from being abused and help you secure it with a new password after verifying with you.

From reading posts I got the impression that I shouldn't put the name of that auction site or the payment service that they own that is the subject of this forum. People either space out the spelling of the name or use something similar but now I see the menu on the left here and say "DOAH". Sorry.

I mentioned it because sadly a user did send me a pm to ask about such a nickname. :doh:
