Default Renting IPs?

Has anyone here ever rented an IP address? I've looked up some but I don't know if it's a bad idea. What is a reasonable cost for this service?

TIA

That is a bit pricey. I just googled some companies and see they offer ~$100 a month for their standard package.

In the US, there are much cheaper (and better) alternatives.

I know it is. I'm just stuck between a rock and a hard place. Can't get the darn IP to change if my life depended on it. My laptop is busted and I don't have the ability to just buy a new one right now and do the dongle thing. I'm really frustrated.

There are way better options:
1. Dongle (USB Modem)(AirCard)
- Verizon
- T-Mobile
- Virgin Mobile

2. Tethering from Phone to Computer
This will require a smartphone and some type of app on the phone.

For some reason people want to make it harder on themselves when the list you mentioned are so easy to use.

OP, the list MM gives is not expensive at all and phone tethering can be done for little to no cost.

If your laptop is bust, what are you using to interface with eBay?

Tmobile is a good option? I have heard that its hard to get a new IP (I have had a lot of trouble getting new IPs with the hot spot on my tmobile phone but not tried the dongle).

Thanks everyone!

James, I'm a bit low tech. All I'm using to do any online stuff is just a plain ol' desktop computer.

It seems like I'm one of the last few people on Earth that doesn't have a cell phone so tethering wouldn't be an option for me.

I'm currently working on scraping together funds for a new laptop and as soon as I do I'll go with one of the companies mentioned here.

You don't need a laptop to use a dongle. Works just fine on a desktop.

Agree with James, that's the beauty of a dongle, it can be used on a laptop or PC. Also the MiFi type works great.
