Default Refund from January request by buyer

http://www.aspkin.com/forums/ebay-di...tml#post421596

Well, this just happened to me. Customer paid on the January 30th, asking for a refund. What should I do? PayPal doesn't even have an option or link to issue refund. Could I just ignore him? Pleas advise.

Bah......

this is going to be tricky. What's the amount of refund?

How did he pay in the 1st place?

Can your account cope with issues?

Sorry for the questions but I prefer a bit more info to try to help out.

can they still leave feedback after all this time? if so it would be a bad idea to ignore him, he will just leave you a neg, just explain in nicest way possible you don't offer returns after all this time and tell him to have a look at your return policy. if he's bought something off you new and has broken for example depending on what it is tell him he will have to contact the manufacturer as he will still be under warranty, i bought an epson printer off someone new and it broke 6 months later, i spoke with the seller and although I knew he would not let me return it he told me to contact epson and I did and got a replacement.

But all depends on when you sold him

Refund amount 36 bucks. Already exchanged once. Paid by PayPal. Already wanted to abandon this account because of bogus marks affecting search rankings. I just don't want this account limited for beneficial reasons that mm78 can attest to.

I was thinking of taking the money and leave the acct, but don't want the PayPal to be limited.

Can they even do anything after 75 days? I mean, they can't leave feedback and I can't issue a refund because there's no button for me to do so.

You are only able to refund through PayPal up to 60 days later. Same applies to cases.
So tell him this, the only thing he can do is a chargeback with his bank and give you a negative.

Sounds to me like the buyer is trying to find some extra money somehow...

I wouldn't want him to do a charge back because PayPal can still hold my funds with a charge back. I'm thinking the best thing to do is to ignore him. I mean I only have a few feedbacks on this one.

They can refund him if a PP agent becomes manually involved.

So is it worth risking a limitation over 36 bucks? Hmm

Default Refund from January request by buyer

Hmmm, interesting point rsot. I think what I'll do, since I do have the money to refund him already in the PayPal acct, is to ignore him and hope he goes away. If he reads thru all the pp FAQ, then he'll know that past 60 days is no return etc. if for some chance he contacts PayPal, and the agent somehow favors him, at least I have the money to refund him an not have my PayPal limited. In other words, let him go thru layers before he demands refund, and each layer is basically giving him a message that he can no longer refund.

The way eBay operates, buyers can buy underpants and return them after 45 days of usage, and you have to refund them; just nonsense.

I sometimes feel that sellers are abused with all this.

Let him go through a month before he gets his refund via PayPal.

Ignoring the customer is the best policy in this situation.

The time limit for customers to open a PayPal disute is 45 days.

The time limit for customers to leave feedback on eBay is 60 days.

You have very little to worry about.

I am in the same position and don't really remember him returning the item. I asked for POD on the return and buyer has yet to provide. Until he does I am not doing anything as he never told me he was returning my item so I was not expecting it back.

Not always.

Some buyers manage to persuade paypal to open disputes past the due date.

OP also has to consider a chargeback

You are correct GreenBean however I have never concerned myself too much with chargebacks.

I've found that most customers give up on a refund at a PayPal level and only very rarely do they bother to follow it up with their bank.

Few buyers are even aware of what a chargeback is... and only customers who paid via credit card are able to do it. Banks are usually less than helpful to the buyer as well.

If 1 in 1000 customers file a chargeback, this is just a cost of doing business.

The time frame for a customer to file for a chargeback is 120 days.

For 36.00 I refund and let it go.

Sometimes you hate to do this but OP mentions she would like to keep this account so for 36.00 I would just send them the money and move on.
