Re: US eBay & PayPal Stealth Account Questions.
First, please do not ask for advice on how to commit tax fraud. We don't do that on the forum. If you make a profit, pay your taxes.
Having said this, it is TRUE that an account must have both 200 or more sales AND $20,000 or more in gross revenue to be reported to the IRS.
If you trigger PayPal's algorithm that says you are LIKELY to meet the reporting requirements, they will ask for your tax-id at that time. That is either a social security number or an employer identification number. Many people use EIN's for exactly this reason. PayPal (and all other payment processors) VERIFY that the individual name matches the SSN, or that the business name matches the EIN.
You are correct in that you can only use your own social security number. There is no way around that, other than to form an LLC, or to use multiple accounts.
Given your post, I don't see you being very successful with stealth. An online sales business has expenses just like any other business does. If you cannot bring yourself to pay for things like a separate working phone number, giving refunds when necessary, or taxes and filing fees, I just don't see this working for you.
Sorry if this seems harsh, I don't mean it to be. Stealth does NOT have to be expensive, but there is no free way to open and maintain accounts.
