Activity: 0% Longevity: 57% | | IPBurger Shows Much More Than IP Address
I have 2 computers each with its own modem. When I check them on IPBurger they show different IP addresses.
However it also shows the Latitude, Longitude, area code and position on Google Maps - and they are identical! The map position is not accurate but they both show the same identical information. Only the IP address is different.
It seems this is a dead giveaway. What good is having different IP addresses if all the other information is the same?
I'm ready to add a 3rd computer/modem setup just for stealth but it looks like this is not going to work.
What am I missing?

EB, PP, AZ all know more than one person in a given area code uses their site.
Calm down. You are ok my dear.

You can type in "ip address" in your browser and Google will give it to you

GB & unkown5454,
That's comforting to hear, but . . . they might decide to take all this to the next level at any time and start checking. If they were to do that, would all our houses of cards come tumbling down? If not, why not?

No, because different IP devices, such as MIFI and Phone tethering will access IPs from all over the place. Not everyone uses a home-based modem and router to access the internet.

We have worked out as of 11/22/2014 working methods.

First, buying home modems is expensive. Having multiple dedicated lines is inefficient. Most of us operating multiple accounts are using MiFi boxes, dongles, cellular tethering, dial-up and maybe one dedicated home broadband line. A few of us are lucky and can force the home broadband modem to change IPs through various techniques.
Second, an IP is simply one way a website can identify a user, but it is not enough to confirm. That's why they use multiple unique identifiers to build a complete profile in order to determine risk level such as personal info, IP, types of items being sold, etc.
Lastly, what you are basically saying is that if two people of the same race stand next to each other, then that means they are the same person. They have the same skin color and location right? Is there no way they could be 2 different people? If EB, AZ, PP and others had that mentality, they wouldn't have a business.

No apartments, condos, etc. Google maps (on IPBurger) will instantly show that it is a low density area. Not a whole lot of people here. I hope to create several ID's to sell this same brand item. What are the chances that there are 2 or 3 or 4 or more guys in that same area selling the same items? I will be selling the same brand of items as before stealth. If eBay gets to checking . . . how many similarities will it take for them to decide this is the same guy we suspended in that area? Or am I just being a Nervous Nellie?

Your IP address, at best, can be traced to your ISP, not your home address. There is nothing about an IP address in and of itself that gives away location data. There are companies that track which organizations own which IP addresses, but that's it. They are not always accurate. It is not uncommon to have a connection in Chicago that shows up as NY or PA, or CA. For that matter, I once had an IP that still showed up in Europe.
IP's were mostly issued long ago. Companies went in and out of business, IP's were traded and not always updated. So, YES, if you use the same ISP, the IP addresses will all trace to their nearest office.
If you were using a dial-up modem, the solution would be to dial in farther from home. Some people use VPN's or VPS's for this. Others may use different providers in a given area. Even if your area has only ONE ISP, such as Comcast, there are usually some others as well, like mobile broadband carriers, etc. So, you could change it up that way if you needed to.
But you are thinking about all of this correctly. If you are selling unique items on different accounts and they are all coming from the same ISP in a rural area, that might look suspicious. Less so if your location is Chicago.
Make everything as different as you can. Different titles, descriptions, photographs, browsers, browser add-ins, etc. Some people use different operating systems or different versions of Windows.
The only way I could find the address you are located at from an IP address would be to know the date and time you were using the IP and then request that information from your ISP. They could look up their records and associate your login with the IP and pull your residence address from your account information. Usually, however, they will not give that out, except maybe to law enforcement.

Usually, however, they will not give that out, except maybe to law enforcement. | And there is still tons of debate going on with this issue. An IP can be traced back to an address, but it cannot correctly identify the person or persons using it. If a person or business is blasting out open WiFi signals around them and dozens of people connect to it, they are all sharing the same IP. So, there is no way to actually prove who is doing what unless the people who own the network are monitoring the network traffic and placing cookies, etc. on each device that uses the network.
In the future, IPv6 is actually supposed to identify the individual device being used like a MAC address. That is no fun.

Before everyone starts freaking out about IPv6, here is a link to the Wikipedia page describing it - scroll down to see the "Privacy" section: IPv6 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
While it will base IP addresses on the MAC address of the device deing used, that can be easily defeated.
Here is another link, describing what is possible with our current IP system, IPv4: Can Someone Find me with my IP Address? - What Is My IP ®
There really is NO NEED to panic.
