One goes down, you have a backup that wont interrupt your cash flow too much in time to build more to replace the one(s) you lost

Being able to have each account specialize if you want

Its also great have backup accounts there to take up the slack if one account gets a perm limitation.

Where to begin,
1. You don't put all your eggs in 1 basket
2. If one goers down, you have back ups to replace the limited/banned accounts
3. If the limits on 1 account arent enough, you can spread sales across multiple accounts
4. You can dedicate each account a specific item, making it easier to print shipping labels
5. Cause we have the ability to make/run multiple accounts

Well the benefits is spreading your sales. Since ebay and paypal love killing accounts then you won't be crying that your account is suspended/limited and you won't have to start over like most people do.

Spreading risks. If one account goes down, money flow does not stop.

As you sell on accounts, item limits & $$ limits increase..

You dont want one account that has high limits go down and then be stuck with a new account with 5/$500 and have to wait ages to start over again..
So if you alternate sales across accounts at the same time they will age together and hopefully have nice increases on each.

Great thread!

I have to add the ability to test new products has been huge for me. When I only used big accounts I could never risk adding a new product and disrupting cash-flow by maybe having a short term defect, reduced limits or having funds held.

2.) The ability to sell items that are protected under dealer MAP prices by staying incognito with a location thousands of miles from me on the ebay account.

3.) In my unique situation to be able to reach out and branch into new markets without giving the majority of profit to business partners/overhead.

4.) To be able to operate 100% independent from other business for short amount of time or long term as well and not disrupt anything on other existing accounts.

5.) As MM mentioned above, shipping! I can run items all shipping fist class mail under 3 ounces and batch print a days sales in a few minutes as an example.

6.) To spread money around. This is huge for me. I am most likely one of the only few people on this forum that would rather have money in a bunch of independent PayPal accounts than a lump sum in a few bank accounts.

7.) To have a lot of buying power on ebay. I can buy and negotiate as ten different people compared to one buyer. This of course works best with big ticket items or volumes. Nobody likes to sell to a competitor as an example or if you get ten offers all at $7000.00 and then someone offers $8,000 it is much more attractive....

8.) I can hire people to run a very particular aspect of business without the risky of them disrupting another aspects and do this remotely by using a new account altogether.

9.) To reduce being targeted by competitors. I am a very aggressive seller and it is very easy for me to piss other sellers off. If I have ten accounts operating independently selling the same thing with all different images, descriptions, title, etc...I am not nearly as noticed.

Is one of the top reasons for me. Other sellers can be very aggressive in trying to take you down.

Recently I had my first 3 negatives from the same buyer. First time I've ever had negatives in 10 years(Mostly a buyer until a year ago). I noticed they also sold similar products and I believe they purchased just to leave negative feedback. Maybe I'm crazy but it seems like the only logical reason.

You can always report the buyer if your 100% sure it's a seller that's selling the same item.

Took me ten minutes today but the fact negative was left before the item shipped and then admitting multiple accounts and being extremely rude made the case incredibly easy.

This thread has the details.

Pretty dumb if you think about it, they don't even wait to get the item before leaving a negative...I've had it happen a few times.

Multiple accounts is the key concept, it gives us some control over our business, rather than having one or two accounts, and just praying each day you don't wake up to a dreaded MC999 and your mind is racing because your trying to figure how you will pay all your bills when your income stream has just been shut off like a faucet

Knowing what I know now, I feel for members who come here for the first time saying their 10 year old account has been suspended

And they have Rent to Pay for their office or storage, employees, and than their own livelihood

It's scary putting so much faith into eBay to not only be supporting your family but others if you have employees, to have it all end in a heartbeat

I'm constantly building accounts, I feel the more you have the stronger your business, you should never be attached to one account, they should always be rotating and building with new accounts

If an account goes down I don't even blink anymore, and by spreading sales out, keeps you under the radar, and suspensions are fewer and fewer every year as you grow and add more accounts

It's a security blanket, the more you have the less you have to worry about one going down. Helps you take back control of your online business in a sense.

They often restrict selling but allow you to buy, eBay loves buyers

Even if the account was suspended and you weren't a registered user and it was real details

You can still open a buyer account using all real details, I made a few buyer accounts all with my real details, they get you if you attempt to convert it to a seller account

Unless your a scammer as a buyer than you can always open real buying accounts

They say in their "goodbye" letter that "you are not allowed to use ebay in any way". It includes bidding as well. So... who's right?

Even so, if you open another buyer account most the time they will leave you alone if its just for buying and your not scamming anyone. Trust me they like your money : )

So this new account can have the same details as the old one, just another email address, and they will not say anything if I just buy stuff? Can old PP be used with this account?
