Default Negative Feedback

I've had my main eBay account since 2000 and the past year and a half have been selling 30 to 40 items a day(Low priced). Last week I received my first ever negative feedback and my sales died. Literally. The next day 0 sales. The day after that 3 sales. The past few days I've not had more than 7 sales a day.

So call me crazy but I don't think this is a coincidence.

Does eBay really filter now that I have 99.9% instead of 100%?

No one really knows for sure other than a few bods over at eBay.

In the long term you sales will recover, but it is possible in the short term that they have limited your viability slightly.

Its a discrace really isnt it. Once youve used up your free listings, you are paying 35p per listing thereon in. Annoying that your listing can be hidden or not in a prime spot for selling.
Rant over :-)

Have you replied to the negative feedback on your page, so you can explain your side?

If you scroll right to the bottom of the feedback page there will be a 'reply to feedback received' link and you can add comments for all to see.

The negative feedback stated that the item was bigger than she thought. That's it. All specs are given in the listing. What can I do? I blocked the buyer though.

You could also try to get the buyer to remove the negative feedback though offering a refund and letting her keep the item (only issue the refund after the feedback has been removed though)

OK, I will do it. You told somebody to call you crazy. OK, so.....you are crazy.

If perfection in your account is the goal then I wonder how much money you are losing with a standard of 100% as opposed to 99.5%.

How much stress and extra effort are you putting into it to pacifyy each and every that buys these low dollar items.

Breathe, relax, and repeat after me......one negative is not the end of the world.

I never said anything about stress or pacifying the buys. I have yet to have any issues with people purchasing items. I'm not trying to be perfect. I'm just saying I don't believe it's a coincidence.

Let me guess, your listings are BIN (Buy it Now). For BIN there are guidelines on what things are considered when you get ranked, those include:
  • success
  • seller performance
  • traffic & conversion (keywords)

So, your seller performance started getting derailed hence it went into lower rank. It happens and there are some strategies to boost your traffic and sales. For BIN listings Success = Quality Traffic. For Auction listings this is not an issue, you also might have noticed that auction listings 99.9% of the time rank higher than BIN listings. It's only because they purely depend on Bid activity, and time remaining. So, I would suggest you to improve your keywords and list items as auction listings until BIN improves.

Is this possible to do ? I don't think most buyers and I'd say sellers know how to retract a negative feedback that they already left? Don't you have to get ebay involved.

I used this idea in the past telling them keep the item with a refund or partial refund.

Some F'n asshole bought a product off me won the auction for $1.75 free shipping. The guy left me negative feedback that it was "POOR PACKAGING FOR A COLLECTIBLE ITEM." How do I handle this civilly, I hate to stereotype people. but given where he lives and the genre of the item I just see it causing problems. I'm really getting tired of these whiners on there that expect free shipping. I thought maybe it's a troll but the guy has close to 500 feedback's what a fukinn asshole.

You are not losing much on refunding 1.75. Ye, some buyers have too many expectations especially for those prices. But just make templates for all kind of situations, make sure they are properly worded and if this situation occurs again then just send them your message. I have gotten plenty of feedbacks revised however you are limited to how many you can get revised as then the only option for the buyer to change the feedback would be to call to ebay and unlikely many will do it.

If you have the size listed in the description I would call into eBay and state your complaint. It is not your fault that a buyer does not take the time to inform themselves by reading the description. I am not saying this will work, but it is worth a try instead of refunding them.

You can communicate with the buyer and if he is up for revising the feedback, then you, the seller, have to request a feedback revision, which is then sent to the buyer to agree to do. Do not submit this until you and the buyer have came to an agreement.

God this sh*t pisses me off....had a buyer leave a neutral feedback a few months back saying thanks for shipping quick but the item wasn't what he thought. Seriously? You bought the damn thing, there were clear pictures of the exact item and didn't bother to contact me about it. I would've refunded and been done with it. The netural isn't what pissed me off...it was the fact that he dinged me with 1 star DSR's. So I feel your rage, OP.

i've gotten negative feedback before and have contacted the buyer, acted real nice like i actually gave a crap, maybe offered a partial or full refund depending on the situation, and sent a feedback revision. Quite often they actually did revise the feedback to a positive.

I'm a little nervous about asking to change for a refund. They also left 3 positives with the negative. Could they change those to negatives if they want? I know on etsy you can change feedback.

No. You cannot change a positive to negative on ebay. Hell, you can't even change a negative to a positive without filing it to ebay.

I am gonna go out on a limb here and say "you had it coming".

Is it possible you left someone a bad feedback from this account when you bought something? If so, that neg you got might have been a payback from a guy that has a buying and a selling account.

I have done it before........but only when I thought the person was being an a$$ from what he left me.

I've never left a negative feedback. I've had this account since 2000. Never had any problems buying or selling.

I never left anyone a negative feedback this guy has been trolling my auction's because I had a few of them ( 4 or 5) and was selling them for 0.99 and he finally won one. Some of these people with collectible stores take the **** way to seriously and like another poster said some people expect the world and a whopper for a dollar
