Looking to advertise my website any way possible. From what i remember you are only able to advertise your website in the "about me" page.

I've seen some people put their website addresses on note cards/papers while taking a picture of their item and disguising it in the picture. Is this a violation on eb policy?

Pretty much anything that will lose them potential money such as them buying from your site instead of ebay, is a violation. However I know alot of companies that throw their business card or promo for their website in the packaging when shipping it out, which is technically a violation but most buyers obviously dont care so dont report it. So if your going to do it then that would be the way to go, putting it on your listing or anywhere on the site would be to easy for them to notice.

I don't really add promo to my packages, but I do include a business card with message that goes something like "Thanks for the purchase, if you have any problems or enquiries" in case they do have a specific question about something.

I personally hate leaflets or little booklets, junk mail at it's finest. But I don't think its a bad idea to show customers a bit of personal interest in what they do, or build a good working relationship with them.
If they don't need any more help, fine by me, but quite a lot of my customers either contact me via email to talk about specific aspects or certain products that I handle.

When i looked at this before I think you are allowed to add a relevant link to any page that does not sell anything in their rules so people often add a blog to their server so they can then add info in the text but there can't be direct links out so it would have to be discussing the product or yourself or your terms would be a good thing, which is where discusing your site would come in.
But no idea what the actual rules are now if they have changed so i would check first.

Just got done browsing around on eb. Almost half of the top rated sellers with over 5000+ feedback advertise their site in the background of their product pictures. Some don't even bother to hide or disguise it. I couldn't find anywhere on eb where it says this it allowed or not but i don''t see any smaller sellers doing it. Maybe i will give it a try and see what happens.

The best method I have found is to enclose a promotional flyer for my website with every order. I also enclose a $5 off coupon. Only a small percentage of people will start using your website directly, but in time, your website will grow and you will have more and more business.

I should note that TECHNICALLY this is against the rules of both eBay and Amazon, but in the 5 years I have been doing it, I only had ONE complaint - on an Amazon account, and I replied with an apology saying that I was not aware that it was not allowed and that satisfied them.

I link to a video on ebay to my website on some listings that shows the product or how to fix some simple problems with it then I have a plugin installed for when they click the back button in their browser it redirects to the product page with a popup showing a cheaper price than on ebay
