Default Thermal label printer

I am in a massive jam. I have been using a zebra LP2844 thermal printer for years now.

Today i re-installed windows 7 on my machine. The printer is installed as far as i am aware but the main issue is it will not let me open ZEBRADESIGNER.

I really need this so i can create and print labels. I have given up with this now as i have spent most of the day trying to fix this.

So my question is can anyone recommend other thermal label printers that are not zebra, are compatible with windows, and have a label creation tool that i can use please?

I've just had to put all my current ebay auctions on holiday

Windows 7 is a problem with zebra drivers. The printer spooler has a 1 out of five star rating. Basically, it can send the print job but it gets jammed up in the spooler.

youtube can be your friend for fixes but often a reinstall of windows is the only fix.

Also seagull has good zebra drivers. The fedex driver for zebra seems to be the most reliable for windows 7.

On the right, download and try these drivers. Also, if you show a driver as a "copy" that one usually will work. Windows 7 has a terrible printer driver issue for many printers, not just thermal.

Thanks for the link. That installed perfect first time.

The problem i am having is that when i try and open ZEBRADESIGNER it does the following.

says i must add printer > once clicked it shows 2 boxes. manufacturers and printers. Both fields say none. > gives me on option to change location.

From here i have done some digging. If i select the zebra folder it gives me many diff zebra printers to choose from. I select my own. its asks to install new printer or update. When i click both options it errors.

Do you know of any label design tools i can use instead of this? This is a nightmare.

I am after a label design tool if anyone knows of any please? Just not zebra related ones.

I am also open to suggestions for other brand thermal printers because i can't rely on this thing at all.

I have never used the designer. I only print lables from endicia, stamps, Fedex, UPS, ebay and amazon. For USA, zebra is most cost and user friendly all in all. I understand your UK options are quite different to the USA especially with simple mail.

I didnt know i could print labels directly off ebay with it? haha. I usually copy and paste the address into word and print the address like that.

What i really need this for is that i print a label out and stick it to the item that i sell. The name of the item etc.

So, click, "create label" and print your label directly off of ebay or paypal. You have to click "settings" at the top right of the "print label" page and select thermal printer firstly.

Then ebay generates the label through java and prints out on your thermal.

I still need to print product labels though.

I now know how to print labels directly from ebay which is gonna save me time (Y)

I am going to go buy a dymo or brother QL570U1 tomorrow. The label software included should be ok. If not i will be posting again tomorrow haha.

Thanks for your help guys.

Looks like i can't get my hands on one of these tomorrow and they would be on the small side anyway.

So does anyone know of any label creator software please? I just need to be able to create custom labels. Thanks
