Listings become active with fast shipping

I am starting to notice some things with eBay lately. Not sure if others have noticed this. So I left town for a few days, but I left my listings actively since it was only a 3 day trip. I didn't log into my accounts or anything while I was gone and only 1 or 2 items sold.

As soon as I got home, I logged into my account and prepared the labels to ship the items that sold. Then a few more items sold as I relisted and printed labels and uploaded tracking. Later that day, a few more items sold and packaged them right away. By the time I had finished packaging I had sold about 10 items. I packaged everything right away and sales continue to come in.

I am not sure if it's an algorithm programmed in eBay that making listings more visible if the seller is active online? Maybe the listings are moved to the top of the search results if you are active and fast with processing orders?

Anyone else notice this?

Yes I have. I firm;ly believe ebay has a secret block. I have noticed a "cap". When there is so many items ready to be shipped, sales stopped. The minute I start blasting stuff out, more comes in within mins or hours.

Once or twice I neglected my shipments for 48 hours and nothing sold till they were shipped!

I have been noticing this pretty much all summer long. I travel a lot for work and while I am away I do not long into my ebay accounts (for IP address purposes). I leave my listings running and just explain to buyers that I will be home in a few days and its no issue. I notice that I almost get no sales while I am gone, which I why I started just leaving them up. I may get one or 2 sales.

But as soon as I get home and start packaging items, more items start to sell again.

Not sure what other factors were at play, but when I was top rated, powerseller, AND shipped within a couple hours I was always the number 1 listing on every page.

Well, the past 5 days for me, my sales have tripled. So, I think you're just experiencing the same boom as others.

i have not experienced that ,in fact when i stay away from my ebay i seem to get more sales .

I wish I could experience this. Although I do not sell very many items, but my items don't get much views either. Every sale I get I'd upload tracking and ship usually within the same day or so. My sales still go rather slow and views are like 1 a day sometimes. I've got an iphone up and it gets a few views each day. Then I've got some craftsman tools up and they literally get about 3 views per week. Is it my product or my account?

The items I listed yesterday all have 26-30 views, for reference digimon. Come to think of it, that's about double what I used to have on my other account. This is the 16 year old account.

Do you write good titles full of keywords?

Those items are in a flooded market and visibility may be a lot harder to get.

I haven't noticed a sales increase or traffic increase by being more active.

Hmmm, yea maybe it was just a sudden spike in sales when I returned. Guess it was just a coincidence.

I've had a surge the past couple of days too. Maybe people prepping for school to start in a few weeks.

Doesn't Amzn have a system that takes into account actual shipping time and response to questions as a part of the way they determine listing position? Wouldn't surprise me if EB took this into account too.

I also find that shipping immediately and answering questions immediately seems to make a difference in unrelated random sales.

You are not imagining it. The algo has to be focusing on the main seller standards. Shipping fast would allow the flood gates to be open.

With new accounts, I have noticed the account to be dead slow for a period of time until feedback is left. Then almost over night the item you priced competitively appears in the search with higher rank. Vice versa of this, if you get a few returns on an item, then you will see that item slow if it is a buy-it-now style listing. I believe the algo sorts and distributes through a wide user base. Hence, why you see people pay a dollar or two more when they are obviously listed beside each other. I believe the algo advertises on the front page and listing parameters based on each users cookies and typical search profile.
