STAY AWAY FROM PAYPAL, THEY ARE THIEVES!!

Sorry to sound so dramatic, but they have virtually ruined me and my business. After using paypal for several years they suddenly gave me a permanent suspension and kept all my money as they said I was not allowed to sell synthetic urine despite there being another Australian selling it on ebay and had been for a long time. That's not all, over $6000 got stolen out of my account over an extended period of time, when I found out I contacted paypal and they kept making every excuse in the book not to refund, then they finally told me I have to contact my bank and get them to send paypal a "direct debit" request. So I contacted the bank about 20 different times and was always told that asking for a "direct debit" request made no sense and no banker had ever heard of this direct debit form that paypal required, so I kept ringing paypal back and despite speaking to at least 30 different staff members including team leaders they maintained their stance that I needed a "direct debit" form. I told them no banker I have spoken had ever heard of this form, they told me that that's impossible as every banker should know about this form, I said ok please either contact the bank for me or give me the name of just one banker that has heard of this form but they blatantly and maintained that I must be an idiot if I couldn't find a bank that had heard of this. So after spending several months and maybe 100hrs trying to get my money back I finally spoke to this lady in the bank who said "I know what form your talking about but its not called a direct debit request/form its called something else" I cant even remember what it was called now, but anyway she just sent a message or something to paypal.
So I then contacted paypal and as had happened so many times before I was told "yes sir my name is ... and I will be handling your case personally to ensure this problem is rectified for you, I will call you back in 2 days to update you".
Never once did any of these people call me back. So after constantly ringing them back I got them to concede that they had received this request from my bank and would get back to me with there decision. So about a week later I get their decision- "there is no evidence that these transactions where unauthorised so you will not get your money back" WHAT!! This is despite being told on 2 occasions off the record by paypal staff the name of the person that stole the money even. So again I complained, and again and again, then eventually after an absolute nightmare of a time they gave me back the exact sum of $3000, I asked why and they gave me some excuse which again made no sense.

Several months later I got to experience paypals thieving ways from another perspective, I sold an item to a customer on ebay and then sent the item out. Paypal then took the money back off me plus $15 fee and tell me that it was an unauthorised transaction as someone had used their fathers paypal account to make the purchase. WHAT! This is not my fault, I lose the money, the item I sent out and pay this fee!!
Then soon after complaining about this they made the excuse I mentioned at the beginning of this column to shut down my account and not return the money in it.
MORALE: Stay away from paypal, they are too big and powerful, have little competition and don't seem to have to answer to anyone!!

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Sorry to read your story. People who docks in here already knows that ebay and paypals are thievs and many other things...

My suggestion is not to stay away from them but to learn how to master them.

This forum is here for this reason.
Read and learn... in case, ask questions.

Hi & Welcome to the forum

Direct Debit Mandates ARE real and DO exist in EVERY bank.
It is a form that you sign (electronically in paypals case) which sets up an agreement between your bank and paypal, which allows paypal to take funds from your account for anything you may owe them.

When you add your bank account to paypal, that is the Mandate you sign.

Next time take note of what you are doing..rather than just clicking YES to everything.

what do you mean paypal stole it 6000?

how do you know you will not get the money left in your account back, are you not being asked to wait 180 days.

as for the unauthorised transaction, they took the money and gave it back to the buyer? I would fight it and take it to small claims court. I agree, why should you pay, it makes no sense, you should be protected by paypal, they are a big corp.

Apologies yes your quite correct about the 180 days, they said I may get it back after 180 days, not definitely tho

Can you please tell me what they are called in Australia, or why no banker in Australia knew what I was talking about? Thank you

But the reason the banks and I where so confused is that paypal was saying I need a direct debit form to do the opposite to what your saying there for- I wanted it so paypal can put funds back into my bank account.

What bank are you using for paypal?

What type of account do you have with that bank?

Is it the same bank you have used on this account during the time the paypal account was working?

Could you confirm if all transactions were done with paypal Australia?

Did you get any written request for this info to be supplied or was it word of mouth?

No all word of mouth, I am going to ring them to try and get the other $3000 back again, I did ask the question when I rang the other week and was again told about the direct debit b***sh*t.

so when I was in bank today I tried to explain to the teller that I needed her to contact paypal so they could release funds to me and she had no idea what I was talking about again

Teller won't usually do that without power of attorney and other documentation - that's beyond their scope

Please go BACK OVER my first response. Answer my question on the bank used for this.

talking and paypal mean ZILCH.

You can not expect to deal with paypal when you have more than one issue.

You need to re-group and tackle them sensibly.

Does anyone know what I am supposed to ask the banks for to get paypal refund then? It aint direct debit form, so is there honestly nobody that knows??
