eBay logged me into someone else's account, then suspended my real account ...wtf!!
I just had the possibly weirdest eBay experience ever. I logged into an account I created about 6 months ago. All ⊗⊗⊗⊗ information, fresh card number, etc. Obviously, also a separate Windows user account to keep cookies apart.
After I log in, I notice that there are like 40 auctions listed. Weird? Get this ...not only that, but I'm in someone else's account! He's in the same country as I am, but it's a completely different account name, with about 70+ feedback (my account has 0 feedback). I was able to surf around, read his messages, check his bids, etc.
Again, I never heard of this guy's eBay account, I never even knew his username before that. All I did was type in my own username and password and then I was in his account.
So I logged off, deleted the Windows user account, made a new one and logged into my account again. This time I was able to login fine. So I bought a few things (nothing under $5) to 'season' the account. Still good.
Now about 8 hours later, I suddenly get an email from eBay with a MC152 suspension. And guess what? When I checked the other guy's account, the one with 70+ feedback I got accidentally logged into earlier, it was suspended too (no longer a registered user).
I have no idea what happened, but all I can think of is that eBay's login system terribly screwed up, logged me into someone else's account and then "linked" the 2 accounts and suspended them both. |
