Default Anyone here use a thermal printer for shipping labels?

Ive been thinking about getting a thermal label printer and just using that to print my shipping labels from now on. Sales are increasing more and more with the holidays right around the corner and black ink seems to be getting an expensive necessity.

Anyone here use a thermal printer? If so, what model?

I feel if I get a thermal printer Ill be able to include return slips in case the buyer wants to do a refund.

I run Endicia connected to Shipworks at work with a Zebra 2844 Thermal Printer.
LOVE IT!!!!
I also run Endicia for Mac at home with another Zebra 2844 Thermal Printer
LOVE IT!!!!

There is nothing better.
No ink
No Ribbon
Just labels.

You can not go wrong with this printer.
Check around for a good price though.
When I got mine for home & work I went through CDW - IT Products and Services for Business they had the best price I could find at the time for a brand new one.

HWGA, I'll be asking you a bit about that, if you don't mind giving me short answers. I finally wore out the feed motor in my QL-500, which is why I don't use it currently.

Have you been using the Zebra for a significant time without frequent jams or labels peeling inside the mechanism?

Is the media easily available and relatively decent priced? I'm asking you, since you already know the answers.

Me, I'd have to look up the label stock number and a lot of searching.

Thx in advance.

hmm, i may have to look into this. I am getting tired of buying tape, paper, cutting out labels and constantly looking for a pair of scissors. :>

I have never had either one of the ones I use jam at all.
Home 1000 + labels in a year ---No Problems
Work 4000 + labels in a year ---No Problem

These things are bullet proof as far as I can tell.

If you have or know someone who has a true business UPS WorldShip account you can get the labels for free through UPS.
4X6 labels with out receipts from UPS through WorldShip - Cost $0.00

Other wise:
Endicia Store - Zebra 4x6 Thermal Labels (12 rolls) $195.95
Zebra Z-Ultimate 4000T 4" x 6" Thermal Perforated Acrylic Polyester Labels and other Labels at CDW.com394.99

You can also do a search on eBay or Amazon for Zebra Labels.
Beware of crap dead printers that have been running at Zappos non stop for 8 years being sold as "used"... LOL
I will not provide links to these sites.

Printer Links:
Endicia Store - Zebra LP2844 Label Printer $$424.95
Zebra LP2844 Printer and other Bar Code/Thermal Printers at CDW.com Basic Zebra Printer from CDW $349.99
Zebra LP 2844 Label Printer and other Bar Code/Thermal Printers at CDW.com Zebra Printer with Auto Label Peel from CDW $369.99

You can also do a search on eBay or Amazon for Zebra Printers.
I will not provide links to these sites.

They might be expensive at the start up but if you stop & think about it....
They use NO INK..... How much have you spent on print cartridges for the regular desk top printer?

I also gave up the basic desk top printer.
I bought a HP LaserJet P3005dn for my home.
Uses toner and not ink, holds a full ream of paper (500) sheets.
I got really tired of running out of black ink at 3am... LOL

The Zebra is worth it in the long run and MUCH easier to deal with than regular printers.

If you go into your Worldship account under supplies I think you will see the labels.
4X6 with OUT receipts, I do not remember the UPS part number... Sorry

Can the 2844 print labels from Paypal's Multi Ship or USPS's Click N Ship, or is it only for UPS and USPS postage through Endicia?

Just got a new Zebra LP 2844 thermal printer. Working Great! Tested it with stamps.com software to print USPS postage. Very easy to install and use, speed and quality are both excellent! Highly recommended!

Make shure the one you get works with your operating system cause the older ones only go up to windows vista. Plus the plug wires and driver must be part of the buy. ( I'm talking used ones ). Get the Zebra's I've had them for years, no problems!

We actually use the hp1320 printers with toner...we have been getting around 2000 labels per toner cartridge and I think it maxes out at like 2500 pages per cartridge per the printers recommendations.

We buy perforated adhesive backed shipping labels off ebay. The are perfect....you can do mass shipping or whatever PP calls it and when its done you have a nice neat stack lined up versus the Zebra where it can be an unorganized roll pretty quick if you do more than a few at a time.

Here is an example of the type of printer we use and just type in shipping lables in ebay and the lables we use should be on the top of the page.

^^^^^^^^^^
I also have a HP LaserJet 3000 series.
AND
A Zebra Printer...

I did the per cut label sheet thing for a while before I go the Zebra.
The Zebra is still the least expensive way to do the labels in the long run.

Old thread, time to bring it back to life!

I just ordered a Zebra 2844 and some peel and stick thermal paper.
I'm just wondering, do you guys print both the Packing Slip and the Shipping Label on the peel and stick paper?

Fedex = FREE Laser stick on printer labels

Refill ink under $10 for laser printer- lasts me a couple of thousands of pages.
