It won't be funny when they block your card because they think someone else is using it.

You could have issues along the lines of purchasing wholesale items with a personal card, but thats for another day.

Thats normal.

International transactions usually warrant a check to make sure its legit.

I tried to purchase something today and I need to call them to override my card.

Yes you will get calls purchases that are out of the norm on your account.
Especially with purchases outside the UK.

Because the security bots think your details have been stolen as you are using your card in the UK and there are purchases outside the uk as well.

A few years ago I booked a trip to the USA.

Lloyds blocked the transaction for the Hotel and Flight booking.

I only found out 24 hours later after I received an automated phone call.

Not wanting to miss the booking I then booked it using Halifax.

I ended up having both Banks blocking the transaction, and having to make phone calls to authorise it.

Not a happy Bunny!

We have the same issue in the USA. Many banks are no longer allowing international transactions on US credit cards. My bank told me that in order for me to use my credit card to make purchases in China, I would have to go to my branch and let them know I would be travelling and advise them of the dates. Then, I would actually have to GO TO CHINA to use the card.

I asked if I could authorize the bank to enable international transactions and they said absolutely not. They told me that consumer should not be buying from firms outside the US anyway, as it amounted to running an import business without a license.

I have since moved most of my business away from that bank, but that seems to be the attitude most banks are taking these days. Whenever I order from DHgate I have to use Western Union.

My guess is that the powers that be do not want Americans buying directly from the source, since they can't mark the products up 500% if we do that. It takes revenue away from the 1%.

It is normal when the CC company sees a transaction that is out of the norm or in another country .

But in the last couple years there have been so many data breaches , the Banks are stepping up security even more.

Every time I fund Entropay it goes through but I get an instant phone call from my banks fraud department and they lock my account until I verify with them

And this is over $20 Entropay transaction, and if I load it 4 times in one month they make me call all 4 times

Also if they see a transaction that is in a state that is not in close proximity to mine I would also need to call in

Natwest did the same to me when I first used Entropay. I found out when I tried to pay for my shopping and the card was refused! Strangely enough it worked in the ATM.

Why does it sux?

The bank is trying to protect first itself and then you, its customer.

Say your account was hacked. dont tell me you would be happy if the transaction went thro'?

You would be screaming blue murder.

It is part and parcel of bank work to do this.

Be happy you bank got your back.

Banks... Especially Bank of America and Woodforest. They ARE great for stealth, though.

it has always been the other way round for me...aliexpress often close your orders, all the time, for risk.....you can do 8 or 9 orders and the allow half and deny the rest!!!!!1...I gave up a long time ago with them.....

has nobody else had this issue with aliexpress? I cannot believe it is just me, i was using my bank card under my name after all......
