Default Rules Of The Forum. What Are They And How Do The Points Work

well, looks like they are starting to hand out infractions on some kind of point system.

how does it work and what are the rules?

i see a couple of user that have "level 1 (or 3) restrictions" above their avatars. what does this mean? what happens when you get an infraction? can you still post?

can you get an infraction for bad spelling or grammer?

Points 1-4 are warnings.

Points 5-9 is a Level 1 Restrictions and limits your ability to post new threads. You can do everything else; just you can't post new threads.

Points 10-14 is Level 2 Restrictions and limits you ability to post anything new. You can do everything else except posting.

Points 15-20 is Level 3 Restrictions and basically limits everything. You can't view or post in the forums.

Points 20 or higher is a permanent ban.

All points can expire and bring you back to 0, but it depends on the moderator.

Here are some of the things that can get you infractions:

Insulted Other Member(s)
Signature Rule Violation - for example, having some sort of commercial promotion in your signature
Inappropriate Language (this includes profanity - the f word is not allowed in any form, abbreviated or not)
Spammed Advertisements
Instant Ban - this is reserved for 'bots that come into the forum simply to SPAM

Custom Infractions include violations of these guidelines
http://www.aspkin.com/forums/ebay-di...addressed.html

http://www.aspkin.com/forums/ebay-di...ing-posts.html

http://www.aspkin.com/forums/ebay-su...ease-read.html

NO PROFANITY! (No F word in any form.)

Please do not make any mention of falsifying legal documents for PayPal, EBAY or any other person or entity on this board. That is illegal.

On this forum any sort of advocated behavior that is criminal is shut down. We do not condone that sort of thing, and we don't need that kind of heat.

Creating a new EBAY account opens you to at most civil liability. We have analyzed this in multiple threads. At the same time, we warn you not to provide a fake social security number, or falsify any information on your PayPal accounts.

Selling counterfeits is highly illegal and it goes without saying that we do not condone that sort of thing.

You will also notice that we try to delete posts about obtaining falsified documents.

Sure, some of these sorts of things slip by us, but in general anything illegal will be deleted and the offending member banned.

The way I look at it, the longer you have been here, the harsher the infractions should be - you should know better.

The newests forms of infractions are...public humiliation, or flat out deletion of your post (so that you have to go through all the effort of re-doing it). Believe me, you'll prefer the latter!

These are reserved for repeat offenders only.

It's like natural selection - creatures adapt and figure out ways to do what they need to within the confines of changes in the environment.

Yes of course, but I don't always give them the entire text. That would be too easy for them to just cut and paste right back. I might give them...half the text. This way the punishment costs them some work.

I recommend an infractions system for people who post the same crap over and over in every thread.

Modee/Aspkin

Maybe it would be a good idea if you post explanation of the points system along with the examples of infractions and repercussions in the FAQ section.

Up until today I never knew what offense I had to commit to get an infraction.

Just my two cents

Yea, I got an 20 point infraction slapped on me by modee a while back.

Was a little unfair, I didn't even ask him very nicely for it.
