What can i expect from selling on Amazon?

Hi to all, this mainly goes out to UK Amazon sellers, i sell approx 3-400 items a month from my only EB account, non stealth(ish) general items, looking to open an Amazon account same details etc, my question is are there a lot of sales to be made there and what sort of percentage are you guys seeing as opposed to similar Eb sales. thanks in advance

General items? such as? your everyday toothbrush? screwdrivers? a little to broad on the description.

I think this really depends on what your selling, thats what it comes down too, i can safely say theres some certain items which have a better sale value and sale rate on Amazon compared to e/b.

I've used e/b for years but only had amazon for maybe a year or so - so of the things that worked out well on e/b, didn't work out too well on amazon.

I say just go for it! more income never hurt anyone as long you keep it legit!

I would say you can get 3x the amount of profit on Amazon than ebay, In my case that's what I have noticed. Not too many questions asked by buyers compared to ebay and not too many complaints.

The downside is feedback, its a nightmare getting buyers to leave feedback but its all to do with the way amazons system works.

But having both should be a bonus

Yeah there feedback system is awful - they need to encourage buyers to leave feedback more.

Heck! even when I buy i things on amazon i don't really leave feedback - i feel no motive too.

Perhaps they need a system change...

Me too, They do send you a reminder by email and once you have read it, then you just can't be bothered to leave feedback whilst on ebay a message is sent to you as a reminder and you can do it straight away.

But I am not complaining as i would not want any negative

as the other guys say, it all depends on what you are selling. You could easily double or even triple your ebay sales on the right items on amazon and thats not even being featured which will take a few months.

Amazon is great but you need to be very attentive otherwise they will cann you so fast you wont even know what hit you.

Also, amazon buyers expect the same level of satisfaction they get direcrtly from amazon ( which includes shipping ) which is kind of ridiculous..

It may be a pain at first but worth it once you get through all the reviews and have a solid account

Thanks to all..think i'll just go for it..the only thing that made me more hesitant about wasting my time and money is, if i was looking for something on there to buy, it is a bit of nightmare to find it.

But i suppose you've got to be in it to win it eh!!

Its pretty straight forward once you get used to buying on it.

Just start really slow and get used to the way the system work.

Margins are generally better on Amazon for the same products. Just be careful you are competing with items Amazon are selling themselves.
Volumes depend on products obviously. My amazon sales are around 10% of what I move on ebay.

i usually do as well on amazon accounts as i do with the same products on ebay

although theres more margin on AZ (for me anyway)

Well i bit the bullet and gave it a whirl...hmmmm i don't think it's for me tho, it seems like if you're not selling something that's already listed on there, the chance of your item getting seen is non existent, the whole listing products was a bit ott as well, maybe if that was more on the lines of EB then i would list a few more..but thanks for all the info i appreciate it.

I tried Amazon, it literally looks like the Amazon Jungle to sell an item. I like being able to list and done. Some people have been on there for a long time so it becomes easy to them I suppose.

if you have lots to sell use the inventory loader, i can list 500 products in an hour from csv

call me crazy, lucky, foolish but i always use inventory loader off the bat on new accounts

never had one suspended for anything other than A to Z claims or seller performance

had many accounts suspended just after creation but never after ive listed

thats my way and im not advising or advocating thats the way

T_s_m_t I have not tried that so worth an experiment on part - Never heard of this "inventory loader"

its really simple, put barcode numbers, price and a couple of other details in a csv file and click upload

done instantly (within 30 mins)

i fill all the business details in and act like im a new business with lots to sell

seems to work on ebay too

appear as a business not as someone working for spare change

Maybe slighty different with UK sellers i have on some accounts listed alot of item of the bat although were not advised on here - I think it truly comes down to what your selling - yeah of course if your dealing with brand names/VERO items take it easy.... anything else can be listed in quantity in my experience.

However i'd say what works with one item - another item may you get you limited - Trial and Error all the baby!!
