Default Buyer tried filing dispute after 6 months

I received an email today from PayPal that a dispute was deferred due to the buyer not doing so before the 6 months deadline. Now a PayPal rep sent me a message on PayPal that a customer was trying to reach them for a transaction and that i should get in contact with them. It also says that the message will remain in my inbox for 90 days. Weird since i never had that happen before.

According to PayPal policy, they can't really do anything right ? Since its past 6 months. Afraid that they may try to withhold funds from my PayPal for a transaction that over 6 months old. Item was an used iPhone sold over 6 months ago. Apparently the buyer claims that phone stopped working and expect another working phone or something. I think that this buyer is trying their best to hassle me into exchanging the item or ask for a refund which obviously PayPal can't do anything about.

What do you guys think ??

If its after the time then just wait and see.

The fact the the rep asked you to step in instead of just holding the money a case/dispute means they they probably will not do anything about it.

My thoughts as well. If they were going to do something, they would have put the money on hold automatically. My guess is that the rep wanted to provide the buyer and themselves some relief by diverting the matter to me since they can't do anything themselves.

PayPal have been known to open cases on behalf of buyers even after the 6 month period.

I would wait to see if that happens, which chances are it wont in this case. If it does happen though you can deal with that at the time. Until then I wouldn't do anything

they won't do anything. they asked you because they want their customer (buyer) to be happy.

ironically i bought an iphone for $230, screen was damaged so I opened an ebay dispute and seller offered $200 partial refund (meaning I can keep the phone for $30). I'm sure he meant to send me a $30 partial refund (and i keep the damaged phone for $200). Nonetheless, I hurried up and accepted. Seller sent me multiple messages saying they were trying to refund $30. Even contacted eBay who couldn't do anything but just ask me to pay him $170 so it'd end up being a $30 refund.

Ignored both of them lol

They most definitely can do something. They can file a charge back if they used a credit card. I just had a buyer do it for a transaction from 18 months ago.
If you call paypal about it again, ask them if the transaction could have a charge back filed against it.
They aren't supposed to tell you how the buyer paid but you can get around that by asking some
questions. If they say the transaction isn't eligible for a charge back then you know they didn't use
a credit card and there's not much they can do about it 6 months later. Nor should they be able to
do anything.

I'll just wait and see. Worse that can happen is the buyer doing a chargeback. At that point, i assume there isn't much that i (seller) can do to reverse that. Or is there ?

how did OP take advantage of buyer? If they did not open a dispute within the time period, then their time is up...

I would ignore this PITA buyer too....

There has to be more to that story. Did the iphone come already damaged or damaged in transit.

Did the seller sold the iphone with a cracked screen and the buyer already knew or vice versa.
