Default SSN Limitation Expiration

If PayPal requests an SSN, and I don't provide it, I understand that they will limit my account and prevent it from receiving incoming payments.

Is this limitation automatically lifted after 180 days - or after January 1 (new tax year)?

I don't sell a lot of stuff so I'm fine to just wait until January, or 180 days from now, to start selling again if that means I can avoid supplying my SSN.

Thanks!

Let me clarify that what I am referring to is a tax-related limitation, where PayPal is requesting SSN for 1099K purposes. Not for identification purposes.

I will not reach 200/$20k, but as is typical PP requests SSN far in advance of that. So my question is if I do not supply the SSN, stop selling, do not reach 200/$20k, will any limitation placed by PP automatically lift after a period of time in the new tax year?

I have read comments on this forum that have strongly suggested this is the case but I'm hoping for some confirmation from someone with experience.

Many thanks!

Usually, in my experience, it comes off sometime towards the end of January. I have had a few where it never came off, though.

It resets January 1st. Even if the banner shows, you can collect funds again usually. Sometimes it is a technical issue and you need to call in.

^^That's been my experience. Most of the time the little notification in the corner saying you need to provide your tax info will still be there, but you can start receiving payments again.

You have to wait Next year (End of January). They will lift the permission
