Should I close my old paypal account?

My ebay account is permanently banned, but my paypal is working fine, no limitations or anything.

Is there any benefit to closing this account, or should I just never use it again?

Alternatively could I continue using it?

Advice please!

GreenBean 09-02-2012 04:32 AM

The paypal account can be used for off ebay transactions.

:)

Why close down an asset that you may need for some endeavour in the future? We never know what's around the corner

Suppose I'll keep it then, ta!

I assumed when your eBay account gets canned so does your PayPal account? So did this policy change and if so since when?

makaveliagain 09-03-2012 03:18 AM

The PayPal account is done. I would wait 90 days since your last payment received to close it. Make sure there are no linger disputes or problems. In the US I did this and was able to reuse the bank account number for a new stealth account about 6 months later. Been going for 3 years no problems.

Since never.

Assume and paypal should not go together.

Each suspension differs.

Sometimes both accounts get suspended.

Sometimes not.

Case by case basis.

Best to leave it be and go stealth and new.

This is what I wanted to hear!

I'll close my acccount in a few months and re-use the bank details

Just be aware that the instance quoted was in the USA - you are in the UK

The only thing in common is that we all speak English

(Well, we do)

Notice the key word here "for 3 years"
You were able to remove a back account and add it to another PayPal account back in the days, but that's not the case anymore. Once you have added a bank account, you can't add it to another PayPal account even if you were to remove it from a good standing account.

Yes, it was a while ago. But if you completely close out a Paypal account in good standing then the bank account should be left in good standing. Granted 3 years ago things where a bit different but it is not like it was 2004-2007 when I was on there and just about anything went. You could have an eBay account suspended every day and have 5 more you are selling on all with the same PayPal. If nothing else it is at least worth the chance. Unless you are selling a bunch outside of eBay you might as well close down the PayPal wait 3-4 months at a minimum and try to reuse it.

Assuming they don't accept it with the new account and name theoretically you could always reopen the closed PayPal and use it again for outside eBay transactions. If eBay is your only source of sales what do you have to lose?

Also to the member above it is not removing it from an account it is completely closing the PayPal account.

Well, that sums it up. VERO will for use in most cases get both your eBay and linked PayPal account closed after multi-vero auction listing violations and warnings.

SUVE:^^^ Open another bank A/C if you really need a new bank A/C.

SUVE:^^^^--->>>>The EB A/C is banned, the PP A/C is operational for NON-EB actions, there is no NEED to try to regain a position when you already retain that position by default (i.e PP A/C is already 'OK' in its current state to be used for outside of EB transactions). I was unaware that a closed PP A/C could be reopened - once closed, I understood it to be closed permanently.^^^^---<<<<

The BENEFITS of using this PP A/C were clearly stated in post 2 of this thread & in lieu of directly answering the Op's question.

This PP A/C will be rendered useless for this EB & any other future EB A/C but be good for NON-EB transactions as previously stated.

You have completely missed the point. The paypal is done I agree. But if you close out the PayPal the Bank account is likely to still be in good standing. It is about the Bank Account not the PayPal Account. We already know ebay and paypal link each other.
