I don't think the bank sends back any info to paypal.
It's a one-way information path. Paypal sends deposits into an account number, but does't get back other info except "OK" or NOT OK"

that's why the Nigerial scam works.
because all you need to access a US bank account is the right number, not the right name.

I just determined something!

I was adding a bank account to my FNBO online, and they give you the choice of entering your online username and PW, or doing the deposit verification ordeal - same as PayPal.

I opted for the online verification - and after a minute or so, the system came back and stated that they could not verify my name on the account using the online system. Yup. That's because - the account I want to add is a corporate account and the bank account holder name is obviously not the same as the name under which I have the FNBO account.

See what I am getting at? I assume PP has the same system, so if you opt for their "online verification system" they might be verifying not just that you have the username and login info, but also the ACCOUNT HOLDER'S NAME. Beware.

I've done immediate online verification in the past with no issues. The names were different. According to an online statement, the information is not retained nor shared with employees. Although that information could easily be stored somewhere if the impetus was there, they SAY that it's not.

The FNBO online verification system is obviously different then. Either that or the PP system does not verify account holder names using that same system.

If you understand AVS, for example, there are different "fields" that can be used for verification. The simplest AVS system verifies five digit zip only. The most sophisticated use all fields, numeral in address and nine digit zip. By the same token PP may not be utilizing all fields in that online verification process - yet. FNBO obviously is.

Default Has anyone tried this with success?

When I went to enter my WAMU savings account into Paypal it took me to a page where it game the two options. One was for regular bank verify with the two small deposits then there was another one which said instant verify. Is this instant verify new? To get instantly verified you simply had to enter your WAMU online banking login. Now I don't if that will get you linked or not. Was this instant verify used with success?

I did not use it because I do not know what information they get when you give them your login and password, and well...its just stupid to give those out anyways, I don't care who it is I would not give them out.

I would not give Paypal the password to your bank acct. for instant verification. They could log in to your bank acct. and see all of your real information, I know it is a hassle to wait the 3-5 days for the two deposits but it is well worth it!
