Interesting change to the PayPal User Agreement
PayPal is updating their user agreement since they are separating from eBay. Most of the changes are just to the language so that they can share information with eBay the way they always have and don't seem to be any big deal.
But there DOES seem to be something new, I am not sure how it will work in practice, but it MIGHT open up opportunities for some of us. Specifically, I am referring to language stating that you must contact PayPal for pre-approval to sell certain products, but I am almost certain that some of these were prohibited before??? You are required to contact us and obtain our approval to use PayPal to accept payments for the sale of certain goods and services, including non-cigarette tobacco products, e-cigarettes or prescription drugs/devices and for activities involving gambling, gaming and/or any other activity with an entry fee and a prize, but only if the operator and customers are located exclusively in jurisdictions where such activities are permitted by law.
It would be nice if we could sell e-cigarettes and related products because it is a VERY HOT market right now. I have tried this under a regular merchant account, and it works, but a lot of people want to use ONLY PayPal for payments. Of course, that will not mean that these products can be sold on eBay, but still.
Does anybody have any insights on this?
