Bank of America historically has not had any problems with mismatched names. BoA is pretty much the most highly recommended bank on this forum.

I really don't think the name had anything to do with it, unless this bank account was created with a stolen identity. Frankly that's what it sounds like to me, with the reaction OP is getting from BoA.

mi had a boa account that is still running. i used it with paypal but the account got limited back in april. i have had only one problem with boa. that is my debit card. every time i tried to use it i got declined. couldnt even buy dark souls 3 with my card. but as far as the account i had zero problems. i even wrote my mom a check for 4,000 because the nearest branch is 193 miles away.

once i get my account closed im opening back up with them.

@OP, did you let the account go negative for long periods of time?

I used my BOA debit card in Venezuela and Brazil with no problems. Have you spoke with a Branch Manager to see whats the issue? It might be a simple mix up, ya never know.

There is more to this story and we dont have enough info to figure out what happened and why.
Exactly. This happened to my friend before with a much larger amount than a couple of hundred bucks. They will mail you a check for whatever funds you had left and might block you from opening a bank of america account.

Then having that card being used a couple of hours later on a different country's IP would flag it again.

Now in case you think I am waffling.....

Say you used the card at 20:00hrs with a US based IP but the next transaction was at say 23:30 hrs from an overseas IP, then there is a big flag. Flight time to Venezuela is more than 3 hours, if you get my drift.

Some one mentioned mismatch names, false identity or suspicious activity.

Are you a tourist who opened a bank account here with BoA? If all this is false and you actually had funds on one account, and they have closed your account. File a dispute or in a rare case, lots of folks end up on Chexsystems or other bank consumer bureaus, some banks pull a ChexSystems report for example days later.

But I think, your bank found some suspicious activity in your account and took action, from what you say they can even blacklist you.

okay so I called BOA they told me that my account isnt being deleted, only my card was getting deactivated and that I could go to the branch and get a new temp card, so thats what I did, but when I got to the branch, they told me my account is getting deleted , but they let me take the rest of my balance out, i told them that my cousin in a different country logged in to my acc, but she said she doesnt know if thats the reason or not,

Banks do NOT close accounts for no reason. I have had accounts closed, and I have always known why, I have never agreed with their reasoning, but, at least I have always known why they were closing the account, and I was always advised in WRITING, ALWAYS, so something is very wrong with your account,,,

slapped is right on - banks will send you something in writing.

I had a business account closed with a Canadian bank recently because a payee to the account caused me a lot of problems with chargebacks - as an example - and I had a detailed letter from the bank.

Slapped is right as is rsot.

Banks can not afford to "just close" accounts.

They have strict safety procedures to avoid the cost of fraud...to THEM.

If it smells, they close up accounts.

Been that way for years. And will be that way for years to come.

Question is have we the whole accurate story?

We most definitely do not have the whole story, lol. Any typical account closure is accompanied by a certified letter and cashier's check.

The fact that the bank won't even release any money in the accounts really make's this seem like fraud.

Did you really think the exact same bank was going to let you open another account, right after they closed your account?

Yes, that's understandable, apparent high risk (mismatch names) and low prophet for them (withdrawing majority of funds continuously. I kind of look at bank accounts that are associated with stealth as entities that require as much care to maintain as the stealth accounts themselves. Its a pain to replace a perfectly good bank account for being unwilling to let funds sit in the accounts for a little while. I kind of mix up my withdrawals at banks about like i do while establishing PP account. Varied amounts, and always leave enough in the account so the bank feels as though they a "managing" your funds. On another note, a bank can limit a person on making more accounts, even if you go to a different branch. If they have reason to believe that you may be doing something nefarious with them.
From what i understand about the OP case, it seems that possibly attention was drawn to the account. Withdrawing the entire deposits, and not keeping track of transactions will get ANY account closed.

In your case, I suppose it was triggered by a bad IP. To get it back, you will need to call them, but they will request ID, SSN and so...

Bank of America closed my bank account because I accepted two returns onto my debit card that were purchased using my Paypal account. They said I was returning stolen items. Bank of America is a ****ing joke.
