USPS First Class into mailboxes outside?
 

Hello, I heard that you are allowed to put a First Class package into the USPS mail boxes that are located outside. Is this true? If so, is it safe to do this? As long as it's First Class and it fits inside, it's fine? There must be a better way than going all the way to the post office just to drop off the packages... Since most of the things I had were first class, I doubt my mailman would take it.

Why would u just not drop it at the post office. Or even u can scedual a pick up free on usps web page.

Scheduling a pick up is worthless. Tried, and they don't even show up some times. Also, anything under 13 ounces and fits in those outside blue bins is completely fine. Most post offices have a larger drop box inside as well that you can drop packages off 24/7 now. Pretty awesome.

Given your other post, I just wanted to point out that dropping it in a mailbox will NOT save you from paying the full postage rate.

If a package weights 5.1 ounces, then the postage must be for 6 opunces. It is always rounded UP to the nearest ounce.

If you short the package, they will either return it to you or deliver it postage due and make your customer pay it.

There is no doubt that USPS mailboxes are the source of conveying the mails, packages and parcels with full of safety and security at the destination.
