the difference between US and China is :
US will not care "what is going out"
China have to care "what is going out".
If your parcels have been held for more than 5 to 6 days, Usually Customs in China will not release them.

I know i'm digging up an old thread here, but my package tracking details are now:
Your item was handed over to Customs(GUANGZHOU) at 2010-11-20 23:03:00
Just wanted to ask: If a package is inspected by customs in china before it reaches the US, does it not get checked by the US or does it go through US customs quicker? or is this just an extra step and it still goes through full procedure of customs in the US as well?

thanks | Probably lost, or confiscated you should tell the seller to refund you or send another.

Handed over to customs twice is means it's being booked in
It's all over for that package... The guy at ISC at jfk told me, if it's listed twice. that means it's detained

Just because it gets checked in China does not mean it will not get checked in the US as well.
I received one package that went through customs in China, and there was a letter in with the usual packing slips that certified the package was inspected and did not contain anything illegal to export under Chinese law, and also did not contain (I forget the word they used) ________ materials or anything related to the Falun Gong.
So there seem to be different priorities here. Chinese customs, in my opinion, is looking more for porno, or what they consider to be "subversive" materials, while US Customs is looking for counterfeits, drugs, etc.

Try calling paypal and complaining that they scammed you. I've never used aliexpress but sounds like there dispute center isn't very buyer friendly. At least dhgate is pretty reliable as far as claims go.

if you can't open a dispute with paypal, you should open it with your credit card company

thats what they told me today:
Dear customer,
Thanks for your reply.
If you insist on a full refund, please be advised to provide us with the official document from your Customs that can prove the goods are counterfit. According to seller, if you can accept 50% partial refund for this order, he will send you the items of this order in batches in your next orders with him.
Please feel free to let us know if any questions.
Best regards,
Alba

Seems like there giving you the run around, would probably be a big hassle getting the documents.

I have kindof a similar question. I actually have to send back some vero stuff to China for replacements (defective). The seller seems to be concerned about Chinese customs, he wants me to send many smaller boxes and put low value, etc.
I understand that's what he wants but that's not cheap to do. Anybody know how strict Chinese customs really are? I would ship via EMS and probably boxes that are 45 x 25 x 20 cm in size, maybe 3-4kg weight.
Thoughts?
