Default Buying direcly from manufactures

Has anyone had success buying directly from the manufacturer for top 100 selling items in sub categories on Amazon? I know the MOQs must be high, you need a tax ID and re-seller's license, but this seems like the smart way to go. It seems like Amazon does this with a lot of products, but thier are name brand top 100 products that Amazon doesn't sell

I doubt anyone will answer your question because it is a part of their selling strategie. When you have a good idea it is sometimes better to try it yourself instead of giving this idea to other seller.

I don't think it's a big secret. I'm sure many have tried as I have started too. I'm not asking for specific sources or anything

Getting products direct from source is a challenge, but possible. You just need the right channels and contacts. You also need a strong foundation within your business. Expect large MOQ's, hence large investments - make sure you are in a position to risks.

I think this is semi-relevant.

OP - have you every checked out 888 lots? It's where AZ sells all their lost merchandise. You need a reseller license to buy anything, but you can get some great deals on wholesale lots of brand-name merchandise. Personally I've never purchased anything there because I already have great sources for what I sell, and I think it would be a headache trying to list/sell such a wide variety of merchandise. But there is definitely some money to be made there, if you have the time/resources to invest.

I've got a chance to meet few manufacturers (not verified as I didn't start that) while was searching branded smartphone/watches. Their prices seem to be higher than current Amazon/eBay listing.
I couldn't find profiting opportunity from their price list and didn't try them.

Might have to buy huge quantities to reduce the price and make it profitable

Yes, have done this. Maybe not top 100, but some very good items.
The downfall of this on AZ is that AZ will monitor sales. Have had many great items moving well and then BOOM, no sales. Why? Because AZ went out and is now selling them at 15-20% above cost.
We do the hard work and then AZ takes over (really sucks).

If you keep good records, you can reverse this at Christmas as AZ runs out of stock (but is a gamble).
