as for me I'm an ebay junkie so 16 hours a day is pretty doable for me of course with plenty of breaks and other things in between.
I agree.

16 hours is nothing.

Working 8 hours, taking care of kids, hubby, cooking food, ebay, buying, going to auctions, yard sales, and doing ebay is a normal easy 16 hour day for me almost every day.

You have to do what you have to do.

Anyone who believes 8 hours in a day and then sit on their fanny and watch TV should never be complaining about needs.

Its 3:22 am here and I have to be up at 6 to get kids ready for school and work. Going to be a long day tomorrow. No way could I do all this and handle 600 items all by myself. Wish I could but not going to happen without some help.

Sales definitely have slowed this week in a few of NY segments. But before this week it has been good. One particular product I cannot keep in stock at the price I have it at. Debating on raising prices.

Funny you say this.

I listed an item that would be needed for those who are camping out for days on end and sold as many as I could list.

Even though I dont agree with their being there I will however take their Mom and Dads money.

Been doing this for 8 years 6+ of which have been dealing with high volume sales. Since many of you are general sellers and selling 30-50 packages and that is a big deal to you, then when larger numbers are thrown in front of you, you simply freak out. I can tell you that I ship 600 packages a day on average, and yes I do have a real stable job, and a life. I do not have kids, but I do have a soon to be wife that does help with the process. I have a complete system set up that take around +/- 4 hours. I went to school for business/marketing, and my system/inventory/etc., has been planned out to the max that allows me to run my business as efficient as possible.

I think alot of you see this as bullsh!t, because you sell vero items, but I would like to reiterate that I do not sell those types of items, so my complaints, returns, etc., are almost nonexistent. Keep in mind I work 8 hours a day, and do my online sales a little over 4 hours a day. This is a hobby/job and I enjoy it, and when you see the money roll in, it makes it that much easier.

I have a thermal label printer that shoots out 1 label every 2 seconds. With the system I have it make it very easy. All people who have bought "Product A" it will print out a shipping label according to the QTY, and WEIGHT. So if I had 70 people buy "Product A" it will shoot out 70 labels and it will show the QTY and Weight on each label. Now all I do is have to put the same item in 70 Packages. So that just took 140 seconds to print, and around 25 minutes to pack.

Hint to people: Just because you dont see it happening to you, or dont see the figures in front of you, doesnt mean it isnt possible.

Now that you gave us more insight about your life and your method of selling on eBay I have little doubt that you are being nothing less but honest. I think your statement about VERO items rings a lot of truth. When you sell on eBay completely legit products, especially if they are inexpensive 99.9 percent of buyers wont ever bother to complain nor will you be terrorized by eBay or PayPal. It makes life so much easier when you don't have to deal with people's complaints etc ... Anyways I respect you for holding a full time job and still selling on eBay. Personally if I had that much income every month as you do I would have left my full time job. Respect!
Thanks, and although this is just a forum, I appreciated the respect. Sometimes it is hard for people to believe high sales are possible, because so many people look for the fastest way to make money, but most times they find the fastest way out the door. As for having a real and online job, the positives definitely outweigh the negatives, once you see the progress/money/future. Although I enjoy both jobs, quitting my real one would put all my college education and money to waste.

Sales are slow on Ebay because Ebay tickering with the SEARCH. You can read all about it on the PS board...There are several "my sales are slow" there...Ebay is doing several experiments right now that are causing some seriously slow sales...

Quite the opposite for me, summers are usually my slow time but this summer was decent. I've noticed that as soon as it gets a little cold outside my sales skyrocket.

I would assume that when it gets colder people stay indoors more, therefore more people online. Also there is no sports right now, not consistently anyway. MLB is just about done, NFL is only played 2 days a week and thankfully the NBA isn't playing. More people not watching TV equals more people online, it may not be a huge percentage but just a few percent out of billions is a very large number.

Just my opinion...

The past week has been one of the best in recent memory.

It depends on what you sell, the weather, the news... Even if you sell the top 5 items on eBay, you are bound to hit some slow times, just like you sometimes cannot keep up with the volume.

The first couple of weeks in January are usually slow.

Summer is a bummer for most sellers. But if you sell bikinis, then summer might be your best time of the year.

It can be dangerous for your business model if you are counting on a specific dollar amount of weekly sales, especially if your projections are high. Generally, however, I don't worry about slumps unless they are sustained. Then you need to figure out what is wrong and try to correct it or find new products to sell. In fact, the most successfuil online sellers are ALWAYS looking for new products, they never stop.

Was busy the first couple of weeks but has slowed right down this week.

January is a long month and it's been a long time since payday so I guess everyone is skint. Plus I guess a lot of people will have taken what spare cash they had to the January sales

I'm guessing it will pick up at the end of the month when it's payday for a lot of people

Certain products I sell have slowed a lot... Others are doing quite well....This is why I keep a wide range of products...
