2 withdrawals from PP to 2 dfferent bank (both halifax easy cash accounts) were returned

with the following message

Status:

The withdrawal to your bank account could not be completed because of a technical problem. The money has been returned to your PayPal account.

Subject:

Bank Account
Transfer to:

slightly concerned as EC are rock solid usually

This was always going to be a potential problem once the Lloyds takeover was completed.

Were these the first withdrawals to these accounts or were they all ready up and running?

We shall have to wait and see.

Also avidly watching this thread as just been the (formerly) happy new owner of two new easycash accounts and cards. Looks ominous....finger and legs crossed

these accounts were not the first withdrawal.

I have been using these for years. Had no problems before until now.

PayPal is catching up to our tactics

Well let's wait for some clarity on this i guess - I went into halifax the other day when i opened these accounts and did get confirmation that they can recieve credits in another persons name....now granted there are a load of muppets working there but the person seemed to know what they were talking about....famous last words though, granted.

waiting for clarity on this/if anyone else has had this?

This would not be p/p's doing but the bank rejecting the deposits.

As I said the takeover of Halifax by Lloyds was always going to create the potential for this to happen as they do not allow mismatch name deposits as we all know. So it may well be that Lloyds are now imposing their systems on Halifax.

NoneOther, you have a good foresight on this. I find you are usually very accurate & very reliable with your comments & insight.

You know your stuff.

hoping it is as the email said

The withdrawal to your bank account could not be completed because of a "technical problem"

someone at halifax might not have turned the "accept paypal transfers machine" on that morning

Lloyds take over was several months ago now and new systems being implemented take time to roll out, often with a few trials before the main event.

I currently use several EC accounts without issue but interested to see how this is developing.

It would be very unusual, in fact unheard of for any banking group not to employ the same procedures and policies across the whole of the group.

Stay tuned

Have you enabled these savers accounts for DIRECT DEPOSIT? Some by default will not allow it.

They are not saver accounts but basic bank accounts that are fully DD capable.

As I said previously I have had no issues to date with any of them, all deposits going through ok but others appear to be having problems.

May be just a glitch but we shall see in time

I have made withdrawals earlier today to both a BOS and Halifax easy cash account. Funds should be there on Thursday. I'll post back on this thread what happens.
