Dear XXXXXXX (XXXXXXX@xxxxx.com),
Thank you for sending your request for reinstatement. We understand your desire to have your eBay account reinstated. Unfortunately, the document you sent to confirm your contact information is not legible. Please resend a copy of a current utility bill, phone bill, or government issued ID that clearly shows your name and street address. The contact information on the bill or ID must match the contact information specified on your request for reinstatement form and your eBay account. You can fax this document along with your signed Request for Reinstatement to eBay at (888) 259.6962. If you are not able to fax us, you may mail them to: blah blah Hm I got this after liek one week sending the fax. I sent my Florida ID and that signed paper also too, this was done with the fax number. It exactly matches up too. Did I send the wrong thing by sending my florida ID? Should I sent a capital one statement bill instead? Cause thats all I got. (doesnt pay bills yet!) |

If that's all you have, it's all you have. You can only try. You may take modee's idea and take pictures of your stock too, to help prove you're legit.

First of all, the fact that they appear to be actually reviewing your docs is a good sign. As Aspkin suggests, give them whatever you can that you can back up, legitimately.
BUT there are certain ways to do this and NOT do this. If you do it the wrong way, you will end up permanently limited (PayPal) and suspended (EBAY). Last edited by Modee; 08-05-2008 at 05:19 PM. |

I'm New Here, But I Had To Register After Seeing This Post. I, Like Most Here, Have Had My Account Suspended And Have Been Subsequently Scouring The Internet For Information On How To Get Back On Quickly. In My Case I Had A Buyer Who Won An Item From Me, Then Found An Identical Item Later The Same Day For $60 Less And Bought That One. He Immediately Began Sendng Me E-Mails Trying To Get Out Of The Sale. Once He Received The Item, He Informed Paypal That It Was Not As Described And That He Wanted A Refund. Because The Other Seller Who He Bought The Identical Item From Had Left Feedback Already, I Knew Why The Buyer Was Making These False Claims And Demanding A Refund So I Denied Him. He In Turn, Made A Complaint With E-Bay For Seller Non-Performance And BOOM!!! I'm No Longer A Registered User, Suspended Indefinately.
With All That Said, I Beleived I Was Right In This Situation So Before I Tried To Setup A New Account, I Figured I'd Give The Appeals Process A Shot. I Responded To The Suspension E-Mail Sent By Ebay And They Replied Within 48 Hours As Promised. They Informed Me Of The Documentation They Would Need From Me To Prove My Case And Get My Account Re-Instated. I Quickly Gathered The Requested Documents And Faxed Them To Ebay The Next Day. Six Days Later I Get An E-Mail Just Like The One In The First Post, Stating That My Request For Re-Instatement Had Been Approved, But That My Account Could Not Yet Be Re-Instated Because The Copy Of My Driver's Lic That I Sent Was Illegible. It Was A Very Clear Copy That I Sent, But Whatever. I Then Re-Copied My Driver's Lic. I Lightened And Enlarged It And Faxed It To E-Bay The Next Day. I Assumed That Since It Took 6 Days To Get A Response To The Original 14 Pages Of Documentation I Sent In Order To Dispute The Buyer's Bogus Claims, It Shouldn't Take Any Longer Than That For Them To Get My 2 Page Fax (Cover Sheet And License), Confirm My Info, And Actually Re-Instate My Account. I Was Obviously Wrong, Because It Is Now Almost Two Weeks Later And I Still Have'nt Heard Back. So, After This Loooong Read, My Questions Are: 1. Has Anyone Else Been Through The Whole "Your Proof Of Identity Was Illegible, Please Send Another Copy" Deal, And If So, How Long Did It Take Them To Respond To The Second Copy? 2. Do The Experts Here Have Any Opinion On Whether Re-Sending The Documentation Will Help Or Hurt? I've Seen Some Comments Saying Resend, And Others That Say That Resending Will Annoy The Ebay Staff And Possibly Cause My Request To Be Delayed. Any Feedback Will Be Greatly Appreciated As I'm A Good Guy Who Made A Decent Living Off Of Honest E-Bay Sales (I Had 100% Feedback Before The Douchebag Buyer In Question Left A Retaliatory Negative Just Before My Account Got Suspended) And Have Been Creeping Towards Bankruptcy Sitting On Inventory That I Can't Sell. PLEASE HELP!!! Oh And By The Way... This Site ROCKS!!! Good Job Guys!!! |

Modee would be best to answer this. I'm more into being more direct about eBay and starting over with a new account. Though if I were you, I would give eBay more time since they said they would release your account already. Maybe send eBay a very nice message about the situation, and they may feel sympathetic and release your account early. Modee and others will be better to answer this though.

x2ruff4u has never answered as to whether he was reinstated following appeal.
Two of my accounts were offered the chance to send in appeal docs. On the first - with hundreds of 100% pos. feedback - it was a no go. Never reinstated. On a more recent one with about thirty 100% pos., submitted the docs and two weeks later I was reinstated. I couldn't believe my huckin' eyes, but it did happen. |

Just To Update... I Got My Account Back. After Waiting Two Weeks With No Response, I re-faxed the proof of identity. Now I'm Not Sure If It Just Took A Couple Of Weeks For eBay To Process The 1st Documents I Sent, Or If They Never Received The 1st Fax And The Second One I Sent Got Through Very Quickly, But The Next Day I Got An E-mail From eBay Saying I Was Back In The Game.
I'm So Glad I Found This Site Though. I Definately Plan To Set-Up A 2nd Account Using The Methods You Guys Suggest So I can Start Buying Now, And Eventually Selling Slowly. That Way, The Next Time eBay Decides To Suspend Me On The Word Of Some Scammer Jagoff, I'll Already Have Another, Totally Un-Linked Account With Feedback Already In Place To Keep Selling With. I Figure I'll Use A New Laptop To Set It Up Never Use The Laptop To Log Onto The 1st Account. As Long As I Only Connect The Laptop With My Wireless Card From Cingular (Which I Planned To Do Anyway), That Would Solve The Whole IP Address/ Cookies Issue. Would That Work? Any Feedback Is Appreciated. |

You should create a backup. Sometimes EBAY reinstates and then suspends again, for good this time, a few weeks later. That happened to a friend of mine.
So far my reinstated account is still good, but I have a backup as well! ready to go. |

I've tried Cingular wireless card for my laptop, bad more. Sure they work with your IP, but they're very slow. Almost dialup slow. And you're paying, or at least I was paying $100 something a month for the thing. If you're getting the wireless card for just this reason, don't get it. All you need to do it go to a library or local wireless location to get connected. But I wouldn't recommend that pos card.

If eBay suspends you for a certain time period do they let you back? Or do they demand all this personal information faxed to them first?

Target and AOL have been sued for blind users not being able to using their website http://tinyurl.com/hlynp -- will eBay be next for deaf users? Last edited by Jonas; 05-27-2008 at 06:06 PM. |

They did the same too me, claiming the documents were not legible..I resent a clearer fax and they reinstated me about a week later..over the following 4 weeks they suspended me 'in error' about 4 times (being reinstated for a few days each time), and ultimately told me there is no intention of reinstating me.

I was reinstated on one account. Never on the other.
Since then, been reinstated every time and had great luck with my latest techniques. Last edited by Modee; 08-05-2008 at 05:20 PM. |
