thanks GL, that's what I found odd- never heard of it before. This thread is a little complex/with quite a few things going on it so in hindsight prob wasn't best to enter my new experience here (even though directly related to selling limits)- think it's best to start a new thread to clarify this one.

Hi there - I started this thread some weeks back and I don't think I have yet had a clear answer. I Have always started accounts in exactly the same way for years. I always used to get a 100 items allowance straight away without requesting it. Now I always have 10 and can only wait months or have the alternative of eB sending a letter to a stealth address.

Every new account now starts with a ten item limit. Normally by linking your e/b account to your p/p account will raise the limit to 100.

However, on a randomly applied basis now some requests for higher limits are having to have letters containing a pin code sent to the registered address on the account that then has to be input to raise the limits.

All the above is now standard e/b procedure

@nooneother

so are you saying linking ebay&paypal still NORMALLY works ?

so now its a random thing to get ask for letter confirmation?

where do you get your information?

First hand experience, latest being on two accounts last week.

And every other account I have set up since the limits thing started.

All new accounts have started with 10 limit and then raised to 100 after linking to fully verified p/p account.

Never ever had a letter

I wish I could agree and it were that simple but unfortunately not.

For many months I have been adding eb accounts to verified pp accounts and it makes no difference at all. They always want to send a letter to the eb account address.

6 months back I had no problems. I create them today the exact same way as I did then but have NEVER been able to get it automatically above 10.

So confused now. Something has changed and nobody can seem to get a handle on it? It definitely is not random as I would have had at least one go through ok out of the last 20?

20 accounts! That's a pretty bad run of luck.

I would be looking very closely at how I was setting up my accounts and how I was using them for the first few weeks if it were me.

There is definitely something amiss in what your doing in either the set up or what and how you are selling imo

Its got NOTHING to do with How we selling OR how we use the account in the first few weeks .

@bicawi

do you use a VCC ? do you add your card details as soon as you add your bank account?

I would tend to disagree, but that's my opinion of what may be causing some users to experience this.

As has been said, no one knows for sure what it is that causes it so it could be many variable factors that are taken in to account.

As far as I'm aware pin codes being sent to registered addresses is not currently standard e/b procedure for raising limits on all new accounts.

from what i read here, it happend and a certian point in time, 6 months ago you had no problem, from then all accounts you have created have had this 10 limit problem.

that would tend to suggest that you changed something in your method, its could be something small that you have over looked but casueing this big problem.

ah, it could also be something to do with the Catogory you are lising in or the item you are listing, you could check that.

Ok - thanks all. I will go over everything again with a fine tooth comb.

@NoneOther

That's the reason I need so many - due to the 10 item restriction

Yes, I understand but I was commenting on your run of bad luck, not the number of accounts you had.

The more the merrier I say.

Good luck with future accounts

Maybe we should clarify how we all link the eb to the verified ppal. Theres seems to be a few ways.

1) Sell > Sell an Item > .. make the listing then when eb asks you to attach it to your paypal, you are redirected to ppal and enter your password > return to ebay > complete listing > Congratulatons! Your item is listed.

2)My Account > Paypal account > Add your paypal account > ... then start selling items

3) Find the "create seller account" web link and do it that way

4) Click on the "Sell an Item" link

So theres at least four ways I can think of, I'm sure there is a 5th way.

Which way are you guys doing it?

There are several stages to get selling and it seems to me imho that there is a certain order to attaining raised selling limits.

The stages

open eb acc
verify eb w/vcc
open pp acc
verify pp w/bnk
link eb to pp
attempt to list 1st item
attempt to list 11th item

Please could someone pm me with the correct order ?

^^Yeh I agree with you, can we just ignore that post and see which one of the 4 options I've outlined people are using to link their eb to ppal ?

I dont know about you guys but I would very much like to know how to raise the selling limits without the code from the eb letter

I've opened 3 stlth acc's this month and listed 10 items on all 3. On each acc I linked eb to pp at different (tbh random) points in the process and only on 1 could I add bank details to raise to 100 items, and it worked. This is what I'm getting at..

Really hope you see my point; if not it's obvious I've smoked toooo much tonight

What i do is:

Verify PP

Open ebay Business account from the Google link

Pass the Phone verification on ebay

and then Payment method on ebay (witch gives you 3 option)

first i choose pay with the direct debit, Put all my bank details, press confirm, when it asks me to put card details,i press the link No thanks i will pay another way

then i choose PP option

once my ebay is open i link my PP&EB together

then i go to my account/selling/request higher selling limits/confirm my details are correct by tiking the box provided /then i will be redirected to PP and there is a button that says return to ebay, once i click that my limits are 100

i dont even put a card to PP or Ebay (at this point)

what you guys are missing is ,putting your bank details to ebay. (I THINK)

I don't add bank details to e/b, only use the link to p/p option.

As I said before, I've never had the letter so I don't think adding bank details to the e/b account is what avoids the dreaded letter.
