Default collectplus are awful and will wreck your ebay account

I was using collectplus but their nightmare service is totally crap and they keep losing parcels
or damaging them and don't want to pay out.

so I need another courier but must be good service and who do you use?

I know there is the royal mail but they can be a bit pricey

Of your choices, steve', I would go with myhermes.

Avoid at all costs the second one..... spits at the name. AVOID them. Do not even say that name.

TNT are pricey unless you have an account.

one thing i like about my Hermes is that you can drop of parcels at a local shop and this avoids me waiting in all day for a collection.

If it helps heres a ttip, often when you use parcel2go etc if you select 2 kilos or 20 kilos the price is sometimes the same so i over fill parcels with a months supply of our newspapers and or the bulk packaging to make a stronger parcel. I've had good comments back from customers who have also enjoyed reading local news

and another thing remember a jiffy bag is regarded as a frisbee by royal mail and others LOL

I have started using MyHermes for larger packages since the increased RM prices.... The lady at the PO every recommended a shop two doors down that was is a MyHermesdrop off point - no issues with them so far.

With parcel2go i have had endless problems with citylink/yodel! I would recommend TNT or Parcelforce for reliability with large packages - 12-30kg. Also, if you find the prices are way extortionate, play around with the dimensions a bit ...

I hate to play the devils advocate and I totally understand your frustration but I have used Collect+ for several years and I've never really had any problems and I've found them to be good value and on the whole reliable. Collect+ pioneered the Drop and Collect service where you can drop parcels off at a local shop / newsagents etc where they have a Paypoint barcode scanning system.

I know that for many parcels Collect+ use the dreaded.... Yodel! However Yodel are also used as a delivery solution by Amazon, Sainsburys, Next, Argos etc. If you go looking for bad reviews on the internet you will inevitabley find them as nobody writes a glowing review when they've received a parcel as you just take that for granted.

Hermes (My Hermes) similarly have a catalogue of complaints about late / non-deliveries or damaged items, largely due to the way they deliver items which is via a network of local couriers who each cover their own local area. A lot of people dont like the fact that the courier who delivers their parcel is driving a car and not wearing a uniform, or sometimes they might have their kids in the car etc. I have actually worked for Hermes at their head office in Morley, Leeds and I believe they are a good company.

I normally use Hermes if I have any oversized items to send that are too large to send via Collect+ and where Parcelforce would be prohibitively expensive. I've always had good service from Hermes as well. I know my local courier by first name terms because he collects parcels from me every week or so. I like that personal touch because he always helps me out or gives me advice that I might not other hear about - he was even trying to get me to work as a courier for them!

Since the prices for sending small packets went right up a few weeks ago with Royal Mail I've been finding that I'm using Collect+ more and more now. Like I said I've used them many times - probably several hundred times in the last year and I've only had 2 minor problems with them which more amounted to the customer missing the delivery! - As opposed to Royal Mail who have lost 3 items in the past 6 months. I eventually got a refund, but its very frustrating, especially when they arent even interested in looking for your parcel and wont give you the local number for the sorting office where the parcel was sent to.

Anyway thats what I think!

Started using the Parcel2go website comparison page. I've found myhermes to be the cheapest for my parcels at £2.35 which the Post Office charge £2.80.

Oddly if I got direct to myhermes website i get charged £2.78. Very odd.

If you use myhermes through parcel2go then your parcel is covered for just £20 (unless you pay more for insurance). but if you byy directly from myhermes its cover for up to £50.
