Activity: 0% Longevity: 75% | | Broadband Provider - BT or Virgin ??
Hi everybody in Stealth Land - hope all is well. Been a while since I last posted on here. Looking for some advice for Broadband providers in the UK. At present, when I switch from one stealth acc to the other I simply reset my modem box and then switch user. Question is I need to change my provider now and am considering either BT or Virgin. Do the BT and Virgin boxes work the same for generating a new IP Address?
Thanks in advance of any replies.

Virgin can be a bit tricky to change IP addresses with. They are often a sticky IP address.
This thread explains how you can change an IP address with Virgin - http://www.aspkin.com/forums/ip-addr...super-hub.html |

Personally with SKY I couldn't get the IP to change no matter what I did. If anyone knows how I would appreciate it. Excellent internet, reliable and fast, but for stealth i'm not sure if you can change the IP very easy. I have reset it, turned it on and off for different periods, including overnight and could never get the IP to change. It's been the same IP for months.
I pay for 38MB Down and I forgot how much up, but I think 8 or 9. Paying £15/m.

In certain areas in the UK Sky has a long lease sticky dynamic IP address, so it can be a real pain to change the IP. Luckily in my area its a non sticky IP
May be worth looking into a dongle or phone tethering.

BT 1000000000 %
I can have 3-4 laptops connected at one time
reboot, log it to router, swap ip range with one simple click
reboot and connect another 4 laptops , got to love bt , better than any dongle, simple as!!
how to connect 4 laptops at once.
Connect to your network, wireless or Ethernet.
then connect the 2nd laptop using the BT Wi-with-FON, at the login screen you will see 4 option, bt customer, bt business and bt wifi, then FON.
select option 1 and long in
3rd laptop select option 2 and log in
4th laptop select option 3 and log in
open ipbuger on all four laptops and see your good to go
option 4 does not work.
Oh and if someone else have BT connect to there BT WI-with-FON connect to that too if you like .
its a stealthers Dream

We love stealth now. | Do you have a certain package which is ideal for your stealth needs, or will any do? (haven't looked at all the different packages, they have so many)
Would they come set that up from scratch if I had only one phone line, or would they require you to get it wired yourself?

AFAIR, no tech went to the house(s).
Mind one brother would be too dopey to remember |

Okay, thanks. I will look into it when i'm back from holiday. I might invest in a new desktop/laptop for my stealth accounts. Going to trial what MM does and use firefox portable version. Dongles are going good so far, but they're so slow and sometimes unreliable. A good connection/desktop/laptop will mean I can do what I do now in a 1/3 of the time.
The Unlimited Broadband package looks good. £8/m for 6 months, then 16 per and then line rental for 12 months £160. First year would be £304, not too bad.
BT Sport app and online player
Unlimited wi-fi
BT SmartTalk
BT Parental Controls
BT Home Hub 4
50GB BT Cloud
BT NetProtect Plus
18 month contract
17MB Down
Can't find what Up it has.. Upload speed isn't really important for what i'm using it for, though.
From what I read they will put a new line in for free? Or did I misunderstand that. It says "Line Connection Included: If you need a new line you won't pay a penny for connection (normally £130)."

If you qualify to receive BT Infinity, yes they will come and set it up, they don't just send you the box anymore
