I know to refund first, then cancel saying the buyer asked to cancel to avoid the defect, but in terms of feedback, can the buyer still leave feedback on that order?
Ran low on stock with one damaged unit left, so emailed him to explain. Typical ebay buyer, its my fault the world has wars and famine all because he couldnt have his item!
The complete step-by-step guide to get back to selling today!
Yes, they can still leave feedback. If you run out of stock for something you're better off blaming the post for losing it. It's not very professional, but people understand more.

Thanks, yeah you are right, should of 'dispatched' it, not sent anything, then replaced it with new stock next week. Thought I was doing the honest thing, but should remember, the eBayer buyer mentality!

I try to be honest, but sometimes it's not worth it. I would never rip someone off, they will either get the item or a full refund instantly as soon as they ask, but people don't understand that stuff can break or not be up to standard. I usually just "dispatch" it and get more stock and then send it first class recorded as a "replacement" if they have messaged me. People usually get it within the estimated shipping time anyway, so it's not a complete lie.
This very rarely happens, but it has happened in the past.
Yeah I agree, definitely one for me to remember, its actually what I have done in the past, but this time I thought I would be totally honest. Wont be doing that again in a hurry!
