Re: PP Has Acquired So Many Payment Solutions! Linkable?
There is no way to be sure exactly how they integrated, but I very much doubt that a failed payment made to a business using Braintree will show up in PayPal with the cardholder's information.
It COULD happen, so I wouldn't use it on an existing account in good standing, but I think the chances are very slim.
Braintree was very innovative in combining services for business making them easy for businesses to implement. THAT was the value that PayPal saw in buying them out. PayPal wants to get into the markets for more traditional merchants and saw this could help them do that. They also eliminated a potential competitive threat.
We KNOW that PayPal keeps track of every credit used on PayPal, but taking all of Braintree's transactions and storing them would probably be expensive and potentially violate agreements signed by Braintree, albeit in a technical manner. I just don't think it happened.
