Default Swedish address

Didn't know where to put this post, it's not specific to eBay or PayPal so if a MOD has to move it, that's fine

Just wondering if anybody knows of an inexpensive mail forwarding service in Sweden? The only ones I can find want to quote me at least £60 per month (which defeats the purpose of why I want one!). There's one that quotes $500 a month!

Alternatively, if there is anybody here who lives in Sweden who wouldn't mind forwarding a couple of packages for me on a semi-regular basis, that'd be great! I would of course pay the costs...

Try thelocal.se someone may be willing to help. Regularly used to see topics from people in the UK and America asking for clothes orders to be forwarded.

Prices for most things are crazy in Sweden. £60.00 a month don’t sound bad. Cheapest if you can convince supplier to ship direct, of course if your trying to buy something like Swedish Snus that wont work.

No, nothing like that

It's to purchase from an auction site, all legit. Asked seller but they can't change the settings on an auction to accommodate international buyers once bids have been placed. So my only other option is to create an account with a Swedish address.

£60 seems a bit high only because I'd have to add it onto the cost of the product and I'd probably end up losing money, so there'd be no point. And I'd only need it every now & then, so I could pay for a month and end up not needing it.

I've since asked the seller if I bid with a Swedish address but later provide them with a UK one, would they ship directly. Am awaiting an answer.

It's a popular children's item that can be a big seller here in the UK. Not manufactured in Sweden but is sold all around the world. And there's a seller with this particular children's item for auction so I'd love to get my hands on it!

(Reluctant to say exactly what it is - this is a sellers forum and don't really want to give away my product!)

The seller said she would ship to directly to the UK but as she cant change the settings of the auction as bid have been place, I'm unable to place a bid with my registered UK details. I need an account on that website to be technically 'registered' with a Swedish address.

I thought I could make an account with any old Swedish address but it turns out they also want a Personal Identity Number, which you only have if you've lived in Sweden for over a year.... so I'm screwed!

Thats fair enough, wouldn't expect you to name the item if its for resale.

You don't need to wait a year to get a Personal Number but you would need to apply for residency if you wanted one, in person. Its like an ID card/ NI Number.

But yes, try thelocal.se if you haven't already.

Just posted an ad but it needs to be approved first!

How risky is it to 'create' a Swedish ID number? Would they be able to tell if it's invalid if I just made one up?

Come on Elisek, what would be the point of that to the Swedes!, if anyone could just make up one of their Personal ID numbers.

Its quite common in Sweden to order goods and then be invoiced for them, even as a private individual. Hence the prevalence of the Personal Number requirement so they can track you down if you don't pay. Companies would of course need a means to verify the numbers otherwise there would be no point.

My guess is if you were to make a number up your account would just be rejected anyway.

Not sure what I did wrong but apparently my ad on thelocal.se has not been approved!

I think the most frustrating thing is that I don't actually need a mail forwarding address.

It would be helpful to have one for future purchases from this site but for this particular purchase, I only need to place a bid under a Sweden-registered account. Then (assuming I won) I could contact the seller and she would ship directly to the UK.

I may have to let this one go but it's bloody hard!
