Default Paying for 'bid won' & 'buy it now' items without a Paypal account?

Hi All

(Beginner questions apology)

I’m working my way through the stealth guide to setup an ebay ‘buying’ only account.

I believe that if you win an ebay auction item or purchase a buy-it-now, you don’t have to have a Paypal account to pay for the items? Instead you can simply pay through ebay using a credit card instead?

Can anyone please confirm if this is true as being able to omit the step of needing to create a new Paypal account for my new stealth ebay 'buying' account, will save me a step and keep things simpler?

Many thanks

Cheers
UZ

Hi Uz,

I think you can do this.
You do not need a PayPal account to pay for items.

But some sellers do not allow to buy items, If the buyer doesn't has a PayPal account liked to eBay.

Also many be use a fresh card and a fresh postage address to get the item.

If you need more help ask.

mmmmmm.... I dont think so.

Its mandatory to have Paypal as a payment method on all ebay UK listings. Ofcourse a seller (and only a handful do) offer alternative payment methods in addition to Paypal

As for paying through ebay, I havnt heard about this, and I doubt this would be the case. The only time you actually pay on ebay, is when you pay their fees. I may be wrong, but I havnt heard ebay starting to process their own payments.

Can you elaborate on why your trying to do what your doing? so maybe we can help.

Yes you can simply pay by credit card and not have a paypal account(it will be handled through paypal) when you go to the payment section after clicking buy now etc, it advises you that you can pay with paypal direct, but it also lets you pay as a guest, it'll be under a heading on the payment page as "don't have a paypal account" or pay direct by credit card etc..it's been a while since I used it but i'm pretty sure it's still an option

And don't use a previously-used cc - you must go for new one

Cool, this will save me needing to create a new Paypal account and lowers the risk of me messing it up.

Yes, a nice new CC will be used. By using Paypal as a GUEST, will Paypal still need to validate the new CC? If yes, is it OK to use my real name and real address for this new CC or is this a potential linking risk?

Regards to seller (auction listings) and (buy it now listings) how can you tell if the seller only accepts Paypal on a listing? I’ve looked at a number of listings and it’s a little bit cryptic. Are the CCs in [ ] indicating that they can be used using PayPal GUEST?

Payments: PayPal [Mastercard VISA Maestro AMEX] Processed by PayPal

Many thanks again for your help and patience.

My next mission is to now find another Broadband provider that uses ‘Dynamic’ public IP addresses. My current Sky broadband annoyingly uses only ‘Static’ public IP addresses. (I had my router unplugged for 3 weeks and I still had the same public IP address)

Do NOT be fooled by using paypal as a GUEST.

These transactions still get looked at and checked.

If you try guest checkout too often, the account os put on hold.

Do it the correct way as if you were making a selling account.

Your life will be easier.

Thanks GreenBean. That’s confirmed it in my mind now that I will need to create a new Paypal account to avoid raising any suspicion by using GUEST check out too often.

On another question, as I have no friends or family that I can use as an address (they all use ebay and paypal already) is it OK to use my ‘work address’ as my setup address for ebay and paypal? This would also be my delivery address. There are over 500 people working at this address and its less than 15 miles from where my IP Address will be based.

I feel like I’m beginning to get there with stealth.
Thanks again!
UZ

Very good news is that the distance of the IP from the physical address is not an issue.

EG, I have UK accounts based in the North West and my IP shows me "well darn south".

Thst is one less worry there for you.
