I assume your using EE with the device - if so, its not the device at fault, its EE. They seem to have a semi- Static IP, i.e. it won't change easily.
Solution - Get an unlocked Mifi (if this isn't already unlocked) and get another network SIM, i.e. O2. That works well.

im using the ee sim in a 3g dongle and its changing the ip everytime I use it,
but if I use the same ee sim in the osprey mifi then its not changing the ip, its keeping it the same no matter what I do
so it has to be the mifi device and not the ee sim surely?

In the MiFi its picking up a 4G/LTE signal, which I can only assume has a smaller IP pool (ironic if true for EE, who brought 4G into existence for UK). The alternative explanation would be their 4G IPs are set to be semi-static.
The 3G IP Pool, and this is true for all networks, is a lot larger. So your less likely to encounter IP issues.
Not sure if EE's Osprey has the setting, but have a look if LTE can be turned off, that should start giving you 3G IPs.

I played about with many ee sims for a good little while ( a few years).
Here and there their sims seem to have a Static IP (handy for some uses).
However if one need a dynamic ip then then that's not gonna work for them.
I found that if I go to local shops and get one of their payg ee sims and topup via voucher
then the ip has always been dynamic.
Personally I don't bother with ee because their ip pool is very small (3g or 4g).
From my experience with all mobile sim companies is that it don't matter if you choose 3g or 4g setting on dongle/mobile, the ip pool range is the same.

i think with mifi the ip is static
but when tethering with a phone toggling flight mode always changes ip
you can switch tethering off when not needed and leave mobile data active for a Static IP |

Three I find to be the best personally
EE has always had an issue with providing either the same IP or a IP very very close in range each time the device is reset when I tried them so I just moved on and used another provider.

3G is easily fast enough for anything you need to do with eBay
The device you have linked to is also EE though. Need another network

but the ee sim is fine with the 3g dongle, its changing to a different ip everytime I plug it in, the only problem with the 3g dongle is its taking ages to connect but I think that's a dongle thing as its a pretty old one... that's why im thinking the 3g mifi device will be fine, what do you think?

I would still just go for a different network. I don't really see the disadvantage

When you buy a dongle, make sure it's unlocked, so you have the freedom to move between networks. EE is just bad for IPs, period. O2 and Three are really good.

why is ee bad for ip`s, they seem to be the largest carrier so I`d expect them to have the biggest ip pool

It doesn't always work out that way
Open they will not change the IP as they have a sticky IP. If the IP does change it is to something very close in range.
Is there a reason you really want to use EE when its just as easy to use Three or O2?

the connection at my house, ee is the best connection and ive just got a 24gb ee sim that gives me 2gb a month lol
I just wanted something fast that I could turn off then on and it gave me an ip quickly don't mind waiting around 30 seconds
the dongle I have now takes ages ,sometimes about 3 or 4 mins to connect so I can browse.... I wanna punch it
the only thing good about the dongle is it will change the ip to a different ip every single time I plug it in and out and back in again
so I want a mifi like that but faster at connecting up

How different is the IP in range out of questions? It's not something I have ever tried myself, I only ever used the osprey that it used to come with as standard when I tested it

Hi James, just out of curiosity why would the ip range matter aslong as they are different ip`s?
178.128.23.16 is still different to 178.128.23.15 so why would it matter?

While that IP is different, you ideally want something a bit wider than that
The problem I always had with EE was that the last digit would only takes by 1 or 2 numbers.
In theory that is fine, in reality I am always happier when its the last 2 or even 3 blocks of numbers changing

I did the excel sheet that go`s green when the ip is ok or red when its duplicated so it doesn't bother me as long as the ip is different, cant really go wrong
