Question Risks of Paypal stealth?

So the stealth guide clearly says use different name different address ...

Now, my question is what happens, if ever someone wants to

1) return something, address on ebay will be different.

2) if paypal starts investigating further and find out your a different person to the name on the account and then forwards your details to the police??? has this ever happened? This could really take a toll on things right?

1 - Ideally you want the address to be accessible. You can use rentable mail boxes in the UK for this.

2 - No

PP will not see see any ID you show to a mailbox, so showing ID to the mailbox should not be an issue.

Depends on the volume of returns and the value. For cheap cr*p, I just write it off and either: a) offer a partial refund (usual choice) plus they keep it, or b) full refund and they keep it.

Another reason why I dont want to show ID to mailbox is because the item I sold was replica. I know its against ebay rules, but it was lying around the house and I had no use for it. Now the buyer is threatening to report me to trading standards, I sold it for £100 and its worth £300. I even said its a replica.

To avoid being chased up by the law etc. I wanted to get a mailbox so the return could go through and the buyer wont be chasing me.

Any ideas?

His asking for £70. I paid £30 for things like postage, paypal and ebay fees. The point of selling this item was just ridiculous then? I should have just chucked it inside a recycling bin.

A mailbox would not hide you from trading standards if they really wanted to come after you...

I would just issue the guy a full refund, apologies for any issues he has had and move on.

The thing is I dont mind paying his £70...but knowing he had planned this all along is frustrating. He knew he was buying a replica item. It says on the listing. He didnt even want to return the item, he literally demanded the £70 so he could basically get a great bargain. thats the very reason I dont want to impart with a penny!

You knowingly sold a phake on eBay. You have no legs to stand on.

Just issue a refund and be done with it.

If you are worried about returns, you should have an accessible address like a po box.

Although James replied no, you then supplied more info that changes the response.

Keep in mind in the UK especially, FACT will become involved if you are flogging replicas.

They vist in the early hours of the morning.

Adjust the business plan quickly.

Had one replica, sold it. I dont sell these or have any business for that matter. Just an item lying around that I had no use for.

But thanks for all the help, much appreciated.
